Don't forget to put buffers in your routes...

How many times have I gone off the line because of this glaringly obvious problem? too many to count. So I ask creators to put buffers in their routes....

You shouldn't be able to get to the end of the line if there are no 'buffers' or other end-of-track marker. In their absence the last signal you passed was red...

This is true however if you're running a route with no signals or a route with invisible signals you wouldn't see the red light. Though if your draw distance is set far enough you should be able to see the end of the line and stop in time...

Have just started a test layout, like I used to do with my model trains years ago, still have it, to allow me to become more familar with building a route and included buffers at ends of lines. They work and stop the train.

I remember using the Hayes-style steel bumpers in Trainz 2006. They, along with many other bumpers, buffers, railstops, etc, etc, etc... did not actually stop the trains. Has this been addressed in TRS 2010?

In Trainz 2006, some UK buffers did stop trains overshooting the buffers and leaving the track, but you had to be doing less than 5 mph for this to occur, any faster and you would overshoot the buffer, and end up with a derailed train...

It would be nice if they made the buffers stronger, so they can stop slightly faster trains, I don't mean stop a 100mph express, as this could never happen in real life, but to be able to stop a small freight at say 30mph or so, in a freight or goods yard...

This requires a Court of Inquiry and in the meantime suspension from multi-player.

What if one made a train car that looked liked a buffer, and made it imposable to move because of its weight? :o

Let me tell you... the real ones don't stop you going through them at much over 5 mph either :o . As for buffers that stop a train at 30 mph I could imagine the case of concussion as the crew were plastered against the windscreen  . Airbags anyone?
