Does anyone ever get a response when reporting a post?

.... rules are for other people, he should have freedom of speech. :hehe: Amazing how many of THOSE there are, whatever character flaws they gripe about in other people they should see them whenever they look in the mirror. ....
Such people existed before the internet.
I knew people going back to the '70s and '80s who believed this about face-to-face conversation, if you tried to speak anything they didn't like, you got threatened.
I guess such behavior online is evolution at work?:p

I understand that, same thing back in the 50s and 60s. The internet merely accentuates the problem. Before the internet a guy who grew up someplace like Sleepytown Ohio never leaves that town, the only people he meets and interacts with also went to Pleasant Politeness High School, they all think like him, act like him, have the same standards of what is considered civilized behavior. A guy like that gets on the internet and fails to realize WWW stands for World Wide Web, you ARE gonna meet people who are way different from you and you need to learn tolerance or get used to being shocked and offended.

I am not everybody, everybody is not me.

If people would take THAT into consideration on a regular basis, 99% of the flamewars would be eliminated because people are different and are going to have different opinions.

There's a member here who habitually violates the code of conduct with sarcastic, demeaning and belittling comments to the most innocent of posts, and nothing is ever done. His posts are ignored for the most part, probably because he's about as popular with everyone here as a snake at a garden party.

Gracious me! That's a rather exorbitant way to describe someone...

What is this world coming to?

Absolutely disgraceful! Clearly implying a disliking towards somebody...

These forums are not the place to hate on people. :(

It makes me sad that the world we live in today has so much hate. This thread on an internet forum is an obvious indicator, and was clearly intended from the start with the intent to wrongfully target a forum member. I hope whoever this thread is directed towards stays far, far away and never reads it.

Fair enough to hope that, but it's pretty easy to click a link out of curiosity and discover that people are dissing you, maybe not by name, but people aren't total sheep and can tell when they're the ones being 'discussed'.

So, you've had experience in these matters. Interesting.

......snip!..........Flaming is deemed to include insulting, personally directed criticisms and/or messages that include comments aimed to incite anger. Trolling is deemed to include messages aimed to incite disruption or stir up trouble. For example, posting to a thread or starting a thread without the intent to contribute positive suggestions or comments. Instead, the aim is negative and disruptive comments."

Is there more than one meaning for: "posting to a thread without the intent to contribute positive suggestions?"

Hi Gus,

If "posting to a thread without the intent to contribute positive suggestions" is considered in the case of a truth being brought to air, but with no "positive suggestion" being able to be offered, does this then mean that that truth should not be aired?.
Sounds a bit like an instruction to bury one's head in the sand & ignore things that are not right, when one doesn't have an accompanying "positive suggestion"?.

Please I mean no disrespect to your post, & other than the point I make above, am in agree-ance.
:)

Agreed, I only pick this up again because today I had time to add that I think politics is partly (not completely) to blame.

Even though politics are banned here, it is a part of our lives to different degrees. Having been involved in certain political discourse on a local news site this past year, I can see part of the language and behavior used in politics sometimes gets used in non-political comments of any kind (verbal or electronic) and it doesn't help when you live in a society with a complicated and sometimes partisan system.

Politics is one area where, in order to, "win," someone will describe their views/position/whatever as if representing a group, usually a large group because politically minded people figure if you can present the image of having a large group backing you, you can intimidate others into conceeding whatever you want.
