Do I need a Service Pack?

Hi all.

Just installed TS2010 EE which is a Just Trains edition.

I want to know if I need to install a service pack for my TS2010, it’s Build 42203, but on the JT site it has a Sp that updates from 41615 to 42203?

Thanks for any help.

Craig.

Well, its your choice to update it. If you want any of the payware that Auran/N3V has to offer, you'll need a build at least 43434(which I have.....). Seeing the build number that you have compared to the patch that you stated, you no not need to use that. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. That's what I'm seeing.

I would be komputely clueless, as to downloading SP's, if I bought TS10.:o

The is something like Hot Fix ... etc ... etc ... , and so many other Konfuzing named SP's ... What is the exact proceedure for downloading SP's ?

Do you have to install them in a specific order ?

Further service packs here;

A further hotfix pack is here:

Make sure you select the correct patch to update your current build to the next one and as your build number increases, again select the correct patch.

Turn off antivirus when installing a patch and do not do anything else on your computer while patching and be prepared to wait a long time (eg about an hour or more) when the first patch is running. The progress bar will appear to stop about half way. Do not do anything or abort the patch or you will corrupt your installation. You can see the patch is still working by observing the disc access light on your machine. Just let the patch finish and it will tell you when it is complete.

Hello. Thanks to everyone for replying.

Scottish, for some reason I am unable to view the 1st thread you posted in your reply.

Can you please tell me the name of the thread & what section it is in?

Thanks.

Craig.

You will probably not be able to view that, as it's in the TS2010 section which you cannot view with your account.

You will need to use one that has a registered serial number.

This will probably also apply to the patching process.

@craig72

If you need help on selecting the appropriate patches to download let me know.

You can use Service Pack 3 Hotfix version build 42203 to 44088

If you intend to buy additional payware content from N3V they recommend installing SP3 Hotfix build 44088 to 49933. With this build you still have compatability mode.

If you choose service pack 4 hotfix build 44088 to 49938 you will loose compatabilty mode but gain web multiplayer. Unless you intend to play over the web with other players, do not install this version.

Scottish

PS Shane is correct. You need to register the serial number of your Just Trains installation using the Register or Profile buttons at the top of the forum screen. You will then be able to use the links I have given you.

Hi Scottish. I can't see Build 42203 on the second link.

Just registered the serial number. :D

No, the second link is the hotfix which takes you from 44088 to the next build.

After you have installed the appropriate patch from the first link, your build will then be 44088. Then you install the appropriate hotfix from the second link.

Hi Shane & Scottish.

I still can't get on to the 1st link that Scottish posted. Must take a while for everything to update now that I have registered the serial number.

Will try tomorrow.

I think there is an issue with your account which you need to check with Helpdesk.

Normally, there is little or no delay between registering serial number and having access to the rest of the forums.

Be aware that it is a weekend there now, so you may not get a response for a few days.

One thing you may be able to do is change your password on your profile as that may kick things into life.

if u register serial then why its not showing against your name?
if u register legal ke then you should contact help desk and if u try to register fake key then forgot about any support

Makes me wonder if a second account is involved.

Shane

Wonder no more Shane. For some reason I have 4 accounts. I am going to contact the help desk and see if they will delete the other accounts.

Hi Kamran.

I doubt the key is fake as I got the game from Argos. (which for those who don't know is a large retailer here in the UK).

Anyway, I now know what I have to do, so thank you all for your help.

I had a feeling that something like that had happened, be aware though that the Helpdesk seems to have a backlog again - my support ticket I put in about a week ago is to this point unanswered (although I haven't yet checked it today, so it may well have been answered)

Just so you know, it's an n, not an m, in my name, but it does not make much difference to me.

Hi ShaNe. Sorry about that, I had long got up & was still half asleep.

I feel so a-Shamed of getting your name wrong. LOL. :D

All noted about the help desk.

Please excuse my sense of humour - I'm mad.

even games purchased from amazon turns into fake

Hi everyone.

I have now got Service Pack 3 & the Hot Fix.
I assume I install the SP3 first (which will take my game from build 42203 to build 44088).

And then install the Hot Fix to take the game to build 49933?

Thanks for your help.

That is correct.

Just some patching tips:

1. At the halfway point, the application may not look like it is doing much. However, do NOT stop the patch. That action will require you to re-install Trainz. So do NOT cancel the patching process.

2. Let it run overnight. It will take a while, so leave the computer to patch Trainz while you sleep and while the computer is not busy.

3. Turn antivirus off.

4. Leave the computer alone.

Hope this helps you enjoy Trainz. Also, if you are patching to the Multiplayer side of TS2010, I'm willing to have a game with you and anyone else with TS2010 multiplayer.
