Do cdp files for Trainz 2019 also work with Trainz 2022?

Hello there. I recently tried importing some Thomas and Friends themed content from these guys into my content manager for Trainz 2022, but when I load up the map editor, the items are there--in red font, and I'm unable to access them. I just dragged and dropped the files into my content manager, which also looks like this:

I can click on the white lines and see content individually, but it seems to be stuck loading when viewing all of it.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Third party assets have to be loaded through "Manage Content". The DLS has nothing to do with it. Dragging and dropping .CDP files onto Content Manager should work fine. For some reason, your image of your CM is showing nothing installed, so that is confusing. Once they are dropped onto CM, they should import and show up in CM. If they are red they should say if they are "Faulty" or if they have "Missing dependencies", and you can investigate from there. As to your original title, .CDP files from most any version of Trainz should import into TRS22 fine.

Thank you. Neither the content store nor the manager seem to load; the former seems to be stuck at the validation step, and the latter can be interacted with, but doesn't show the content, just that circle icon.

For clarity, I own the game through Steam, and I'm playing on Linux Mint Cinnamon 22, via a Steam flatpak.

Sounds like you might have a problem with your install. If I remember correctly, you can right click on the icon or name of TRS22 in the Steam client and choose Manage > Local files to verify your installation of TRS22 is OK.

I downloaded Thomas (Season 1-2) and installed into TRS19. First impression is it is ridiculous for a single loco to be 1.3 GB in size. There are also unknown assets that leave the loco as Faulty. Two of those assets are by JScout the maker of the loco. You will have to ask the people that run that site where to find those unknown assets.

Thank you! I did verify the install, everything seems to be okay with TRS22 itself.

I assume you mean "rebuild database." I've done that about three times with no results. The content manager just looks the same as the image in my initial post.
How about a extended Database Repair. Hold down the CLRL key while while choosing Rebuild Database. That will clear the caches.

It's not uncommon for content manager to verify content if you've installed it from CDP files. This can take a very long time if you have a lot of content installed. As has been said, TTE content is notorious for problems due to missing content, broken scripts and copyright violations.

I installed the content for my nephew and spent 3 hours trying to get it to work and ended up deleting the whole lot. It was a lot better that way.

John, this site seems to have newer versions of the TTTE stuff. It is all TRS19 level. If it is original models they avoid the copyright issues but the trademark is still in play. I think at the moment the trademark is own by HIT Entertainment which I believe is the company that made the most recent TV show and Mattel owns the right to produce the toys.

I almost wish I could have gotten it to load as I'm dying to know the poly count. Counting the files it downloaded from the DLS, the one loco is 1.4 GB. You would need your 4090 card with 24 GB to run trainz using these models.

The route they are working on looks like it is being built as individual sets rather than one big route. Obviously, this is for people making videos and not really for gameplay use. Load a set into Trainz. Record the scene like a TV show and then load the next set in. Hence the reason the models are so high detail. This is more of a Thomas video construction set than a working route in Trainz.

Interesting update on the model release. When I did this, it was a number of years ago and fraught with such frustration I never forgot it.

I'm curious too what that model may look like. With such a high polycount, they're definitely not suitable for play. I wonder if this could be the textures though if they're using a bunch of PBR textures. My 3080 could barely handle that and I'd need to install it on my laptop.

I see the black circle and also the blue line in the lower right. If both are moving it usually means it is busy working and you may just have to wait it out? It could take a long time like maybe let it go over night. If neither is moving then it may be hanging.

So the issue is with Linux. I installed the game on Windows 11 and everything has loaded nicely right away. I haven't tried to import anything into the content manager yet, though.

The content manager should still show all of the base and built-in assets, as well as the assets associated with any routes that come with it, including packaged and payware assets, as well as DLS assets. It should never show a blank screen.

The screen isn't blank. Looks like the text is the same color as the background. Clicking on the line makes it a blue background and the text is readable then. Sounds like a quirk of the GUI that Mint is using and or the way Steam is trying to emulate Windows on Linux.
