DLS Searches

Just back to Trainz after a few years, so there's probably a simple answer to what I'm doing wrong here.

When I search in the DLS for tank locos it returns a limited number of tanks (or at least I thought there'd be more) and a larger number of diesels!?

I was hoping to find a LNER/BR V1/3, not a EWS Class 66 :confused:

Do you think I have incorrect settings or something, or is this just inaccurately tagged content on the DLS?

PS. anyone know where I can get a freeware V1? Otherwise I may have to get the wallet out and head to Paulz Trainz.

Yeah, the V2 is nice, I'll be getting that. Used to have a Bachmann 00 of that, but it's not compatible with Trainz2009 LOL.

I'd like a tank (ex-NBR or ex-LNER) for branch work north of Glasgow/Edinburgh though, late40's/early 50's. If anybody has ideas.

I believe (from reading these boards) that most loco's can be made to run in later versions, I don't know how myself, but it's maybe
worth having a word with others who are more clued up on these things. :D

Sorry mate - Bachmann make model railway products, which I used to buy for a layout. I probably shouldn't have put that in my previous post.

For the V1, you could ask paul from paulz trainz. He makes custom trains, but it is payware. Or try making your own in Gmax or blender. its quite easy once you get the hang of it. As for the tank engines, these may be helpful:

<kuid2:193148:1329:1>

also try searching the username "Alex23" in the DLS, theres a lot of good BR, LNER etc. rolling stock.

hope this helps

Thanks very much, I'll check those out on the DLS tonight. Gmax would be too much for me just now - I'll need to learn how to build the route I want and do that before I'd consider learning to build/skin locos. I can see Paulz getting a small order from me, as there's excellent LNER content there. But I'll definately be checking out your suggestions too! Thanks again.

Can anybody answer my initial question? Why is a search for steam tank locos returning diesel results too?

Well, if your search the word "tank" DLS (or at least CMP) it picks up anything with the word Tank in. For example, Tanker, watertank and sometimes even something like ...tan k... im pretty sure if you put "..." at the beginning and end of the search it only shows results with no space in the middle of the word, but im not 100% sure.

thanks
