Direction Markers

I am slowly catching on to TrainZ navigation, and I thank everyone who has helped me so far. Two questions about direction markers
1. What is the scope of them, are they only between blocks? I you put them on a turnout will it only affect the turnout untill another turnout etc..

2. Will a train back up againg a marker pointing toward it. I mean if you want an industry siding only to be backed into would a direction marker prevent the train from coming in engine first, but would allow backing into?

A1 In my expeience the direction marker operates between junctions.

A2 I have also found that AI trains will reverse against a direction marker if it is ahead of the train before it reverses allowing it to run around its train, back up to couple to rolling stock, or back into a siding.
