Diesel loco performance

I recently changed a couple locos on a scenario I created (TS12 SP1). The new locos perform far differently from the old ones, even though the new ones are a much newer model. They accelerate slower, never reach top speed, and react to signals much farther away than the old ones, regardless of the train being empty or loaded. My question is: Is there a file or rule somewhere that governs how a loco accelerates, how far ahead it looks for a red signal, or other characteristics? If so, how might it be modified?

TIA

All locomotives in Trainz have an espec (engine specification). This is a kuid that controls how an engine operates: top speed, acceleration, braking, e.t.c. Check in Content Manager to see if the new and old version(s) have different especs. If they do, change the unwanted to the wanted one through either CCP or (preferably) explorer and going into the .config file.

That was just the trick! I figured it would be that easy, but I didn't want to go messing around until I knew where to mess. Thanks Generalman!
