Destroyer

Angelah, because of PC problems I've only just seen your narrow boat picture. I hope it's a problem of capturing the screen because to me it looks far too wide for a 7ft(?) beam narrow boat. In fact to me it looks wide even for the wider boats that you see on the Broads etc.. I hope it is an optical illusion and I am mistaken.

Yes, you're right, it is too wide. What I did was to use the hull in 2 halves but forgot to halve the half. so it was full wide. Then of course I reversed a new side and moved that over so it's twice as wide as it should be.

I'll sort it out and upload again.

Okay, new model done and sent to the TPR site. Find it in the UK Section sub section Buildings.

Now how's that for service...!! Two hours...

Angela

I have tried again with the DS sending as V 2.9 assets. We shall see....

Sent items are :- HMS Amethyst, Tamar Lifeboat, Lifeboat Station, Narrow Boat3 (which could be used as a houseboat) and narrow boat 4 which IS a narrow boat.

Hi Angela

With your permission, I'll have a look at one of your ship configs to see what's needed for a config that the DLS will still accept. Mine are being accepted without problems, I'm glad to say. Just trying to help - the models are so good they ought to be available to everyone.

Ray

I've just looked at the DLS and you seem to have cracked it anyway!

Good morning Angela;

We have a swordfish, I think, at the Shearwater museum. You may see some photos of it in the museum stuff I sent you. I tried to take photos of it a year ago. I'm a bird watcher, use large lenses, and could not get far enough away from it to include it all in the frame. I believe I saw a photo of it somewhere, flying over Dartmouth about 1970. One of the post cards or museum literature might have partial colour photos of it.

Cheers.........Rick

PS I will take a look around the internet later. When I as a flight simmer, I found a site that had nice colour drawings that showed paint and markings for WW11. Maybe I can locate that site again.

Hi Angela; If you type this in google, "The Fairly Swordfish in Profile", there are several different paint schemes. Sorry, I just have not figured out how to do the link think, yet. It might be the same as the above link. In "person" she's quite large. I don't believe there was any forward firing weapon. It must have taken a brave soul to fly that rig close enough to it's target. I've read stories about the fella in the rear leaning over the side, trying to fix a problem with the "release mechanism".

Cheers......Rick

When you think about it, he must have been doing a little more than just "leaning over the side" !

Back, again, It IS the same site that Stationbeem gave you.

Boy, when I start looking around the internet, I find lots of info about stuff I should have known. It seem that Canuks did indeed land jets on our carriers. Maybe another reason why we are know as "Crazy Canuks"!

Hi all ship fans,

I think I am about done with the Maggie, Gmax is protesting about the file size a bit. So rounded her off and got her into 2004 and she looks good.
The text size for the Pennant numbers is the largest I can get without them disappearing into thin air.

She is away for testing in 2012 at the monent, this shot was taken in 2004 as I said above.

Thanks for the links, I'll look now I have a bit more time, the carrier was very intensive....

Blessings,

Angela

Just had news that 4 news assets have passed muster on the DS so should be up soon and three have been okay'd for TPR.

These are HMS Amethyst, Tamar Class Lifeboat, Lifeboat Station and the new narrow boat that really is narrow this time, Narrow Boat4.

Angela

WOW!! Angela, she IS Magnificent! You are indeed the maestro of ship building! Thanks for doing her. I think I'll spend a while looking at the screenshot! I know this kind of work takes a lot of your time, so thanks, again. I just don't know what to say, except thank you a billion times!

Cheers......Rick

Thank you both for your kind comments, much appreciated.

Yes, she is a beaut, no 2 ways about that, but not as detailed as I would have liked. Gmax began giving me serious problems, it doesn't like files sizes of this magnitude. Polys are high so be warned, don't put more than one in any single place, although if you have a high end PC you can. The count is 35,584, not the highest so far, I think HMS Nubian was 40,000+.

I cannot get the text any larger in Gmax I am afraid so Pennant numers are a bit small although larger than the destroyers and when you see the tiny numbers you suddenly realise how big she is.

Not heard from my 'tester' this evening but he has personal problems at the moment so I don't want to push him. It seems fine in 2004 so I might shoot it off to TPR now and take a chance, I can always update if necessary.

Sorry about the description on Ulster, senior moment I expect or being very tired at the end of a long day.

Just started work on the Liberty ship....

Blessings,

Angela

News flash :- I have just sent the carrier to the TPR site so it could be up there fairly soon, it depends of Robin is awake... haha.

File size is 756Kb.

Angela

Good morning Angela;

I see in the "new aircraft" thread that you are off to the hospital. I hope all is well. I hope you're not working too hard on your wonderful creations. As much as we all love them, Take your time, we can wait.

I finally got the trees done, way sooner than expected. I flew over to the dockyard and put several of your ships along side. What a sight! I cannot believe what a great job you have done on these ships! The screen shots were great, but seeing them at my dockyard, well, they were better than great! Once I find the right buildings for the dockyard and learn about how to upload photos, I will post a few. I may have wasted my time building a 90 mile route, I think most of my time will be spend in the dockyard area! .......and, I'll never be able to leave the area when the Maggie arrives!

Cheers, you're the best..........Rick

Hi Rick,
The Maggie is over at the TPR site just waiting for you. I took a chance and u[loaded the 2004 version of it before I had confirmation from my friend who has a few problems at the moment so I don't want him worrying about me when he has other more important matters on his mind.

The Liberty ship hull is done and John has sent me some amazing pictures of a model so I now know what the deck and armaments layouts are like. Thanks John for coming to my rescue once more, I do appreciate it and can only sit and wonder in awe at the amount of detailed knowledge you seem to possess.

Must get the Stringbag done, I have more info on those now and Vulcan (Ian) has very kindly almost finished a Seafire ( or was it Sea Fury, honestly, my memory is terrible) so another aircraft to go on the Sea Craft (carrier). Also the book you sent has all the details of ALL the aircraft used on the Canadian Carriers so I am on a winner with that.

The hopsital visit was to a regular Thursday physio meeting so nothing to worry about, I am fine other than all the things that are wrong with me.... haha. We get coffee and lunch so it isn't all bad and I meet some very nice people. There is a Canadian physio there usually but she was off ill this week.

So I am still in full swing.

Blessings to you all and enjoy the models, that's what I made them for,

Angela
