Ships

Hi Rick,
There are 9 ships now, well boats and ships is more accurate. These are :-
Solebay, Corvette, Nubian, Ulster x 2, narrow boats x 2 (one waiting to go up), Lifeboat and Amethyst. So actually 8 as one narrow boat is pending. There is also a lifeboat station.

Hope that helps.

Angela

PS; If you can't find or get any for whatever reason please let me know and I'll send them direct to you as CDPs.

Blessings,

Angela

Is HMS Amethyst on TPR? I just can't locate it. I have all the other HMS's from TPR and many thanks for those.

Hi Rob,
I have not sent it to the TPR yet, must rectify that tonight. PM me with your mailing address and I'll send it post haste.

I think it is on the DS though, must check that.

Senior moments I am afraid.

Hi Angela;

Wow, that narrow boat looks great! Lucky for me I happen to have a canal. It used to start at the harbour and had several locks. The system went through several lakes, and I'm not sure, but it may have gone all the way to the Bay of Fundy. I really have to brush up on my Nova Scotia history! Parts of it are still there (locks don't work), even with a canoe or kayak, you have to do a lot of walking.

Cheers......Rick

Hi all,
Omission corrected, I have just sent the Black Swan off to TPR.
When I get my eyeballs back I'll do the other CDPs in 2010 and get them sent off as well to the DS.

Sorry, my bad.

Narrowboat3 is NOT yet on anywhere as I am awaiting confirmation it works in 2012 as well as all other versions from and including 2004. Should be up quite soon I hope.

Blessings,

Angela

Well it is 2345 hours and I just finished making the new hulls for the Maggie and I think they are much better than the previous attempt so it was well worth the extra effort.
Now I can get on with all the other bits so progress will be a bit faster.

All other assets have been sent to both TPR and the DSso there are none outstanding now. These include the Lifeboat Station and the Tamar Class Lifeboat, HMS Amethyst and the new narrow boat.

Dear fans of ships,
I sent 4 assets to the DS yesterday with configs made in 2010 to version number 2.8 and they have all been rejected as out of date version numbers.

If N3V have stopped taking this version then I can only upload to the TPR site so please be aware that I am unable to send to the Trainz Download Station any more, although not for the want of trying.

Another odd thing happened yesterday as well. I often send 2004 assets for testing in 2012 and up until yesterday they were all accepted. But my friend notified me that the narrow boat had been rejected as an out-of-date version number. If this is so then it looks as if something else has happened behind the scenes that N3V have once again not bothered to inform us of. Does this mean all older assets will now refuse to work in 2012?

Angela

I wondered how long they were going to let 2.8 carry on for as it was officially unsupported from September last year, been on borrowed time ever since. I suspect they left it as was until TS12 SP1 was ready, I'm guessing it may be close.

Edit: No problems installing 2004 assets here, just checked, you'd need a patch to change content manager, can't be done remotely otherwise.

Edit 2: May be worth checking the configs for a typo, may be that they haven't blocked anything yet. If TS12 is rejecting that may be due to a config error not a version.

Hi Mark,
Not sure what you mean by a patch. My 2010 is right up to date as far as I know, I did all the patches ages ago and I don't think any more were issued.

I'll look at the configs (yet again...), it is easy to miss something. If the CDPs are made in 2010 and that is still supported I cannot see why the content is being refused. 2010 should make them to a 2010 version, not a TC3 one.

HMCS Magnificent

As this is really a screenshots thread I had better put one in. As promised I ma slipping a shot of HMCS Magnificent in as she is at present in Gmax.

Still miles to do and I had been working away on the bridge area and got a lot done when it dawned on me I was working from a photo of HMCS Warrior... the bridge on the Maggie was different. Never mind, I saved the ship to a new folder for HMCS Warrior so it looks like another one will be coming your way in the future.

Blessings,

Angela

OOOOH...AHHHHH!!!

Hi, Angela; She's looking mighty fine!

Don't forget to take a snooze, now and then! We don't want you to wear yourself out.

Everything you've done is first class all the way!

Cheers......Rick

Hi Angela

Got Amethyst now from TPR, many thanks for the model.

Your model of HMS Ulster low bridge reports some errors in CMP (red!), 3 faults in fact, all associated with the 'propellor_brass.texture.txt'

Rob.

Edit: Opened HMS Ulster low bridge for edit in explorer and found that the propellor_brass.tga file missing, took a copy of propellor_brass.tga from HMS Ulster high bridge and all is well now.

and I am sorry I did not know the name of the ship that was in the quize you put up
so I started to look into some of the WW2 ships that were about
I am very impressed.

Dear Chris,
Well thank you, I do appreciate a bit of thanks now and again, don't we all. But I suppose I get as much of a kick out of building these historic ships as you folks do downloading and using them. Having served my country holding a Queen's Commission I have a vested interest in all things naval so will most likely go on creating ships for a while yet.
After making buildings and a few other odd things for quite a while now the change has done me good, I think I was getting a bit stale with bricks and mortar to be honest.

HMCS Magnificent is looking, well, Magnificent one could say and I am much happier with the hulls after completely remaking them. They are not perfect but as near as I can get.

Many thanks for posting and joining in the fray with the navy types on here.

What I might do is have a shot at a Fairy Swordfish, the old Stringbags of great fame at Taranto harbour and the Bismark scuffle to mention just a couple of their escapades. So I diversify a little....

Blessings,

Angela

I've just been catching up with this thread after a few days. As your build 2.8s have been rejected, why not use 2.9 which I understand is still being approved, or even 3.1 (which is what I now use) - I don't think you would have any problems and 3.1 should be good for some time yet. Incidentally, 3.1 shows up on the black pages as TRS 2009.

I must also catch up on downloading your latest ships. But I've been having some problems with my latest veture, the backdrops, not having realised with the alpha that each time I modified the model in GMax the texture.text reset itself to tile=st rather than tile=none which was needed to make the top of the backdrop invisible. I think/hope all is now well.

Best wishes for your current projects.

Hi Ray,
I often get a wallop of errors using those build numbers so basically I don't. I'll try again and see how things work out.

Here is something I played around with last night (and into this morning - again!) that might be useful for the carriers when they come out. Still more tweaking and some work to do yet and I somehow have to get their pennant numbers on... a puzzlement I feel?

Yes, it is the good old Stringbag better known as the Fairy Swordfish, a truly venerable old lady that did some sterling work during WWII.

Must get on now, I have this, 2 carriers, a Battlecruiser and a Liberty ship to finish - but not all today fortunately... haha.

Hello Angela,

congratulations for your awesome ships: I downloaded them and I plan to add them to an Italian layout, as a visiting NATO squadron on a Mediterranean deployment. I'm looking forward to HMS Bulwark (I visited her when she was aready been converted to a commando ship, in the late '60s).

May I ask you if you are perhaps planning to release a civilian version of the Liberty ship? It could be a valuable addition to any harbour/marine setting from the '40s up to the late '60s/early '70s, and the possibilities for repaints are countless.

Regards

Hi,
At the moment I am up to my eyes with other ships so the Liberty ship is a way off. There is no reason why it could not be put out as two versions so some food for thought there. In fact I believe the ship I have chosen, mainly because it has local interest, is the SS Samtampa which sank in a gale after the war had ended.

Glad you enjoy my ships, more to come yet and at last they have made Italy... wow!

Blessings,

Angela

Hi all,
I am at it again - asking for info. It's for that Stringbag and not being a flying type myself I need help with the markings. So if anybody is in the know could they please let me into the secret. Wartime cammo would be good but also 50's-60's periods colourings as well, so three different ones.

I shall do the plane in at least 2 colour schemes and one with wings folded back. The aircraft isn't perfect, I don't know enough about them for that, but for the carrier decks they'll be fine.
