Destroyer

No takers?

The wretched thing is peeing me off, I can tell you. I made 3 ships in exactly the same way and they are available for download so I got those right so why is this one acting the giddy goat, and not with just one thing, the whole ship... Many if not practically all the textures are the same apart from 2, and they were only partly changed, the grey of a double tone texture got changed so it is basically exactly the same as ones used on the other 3 ships.

I have given up with it, don't know what's happening or how to cure whatever it is. A shame, this is the best ship I have made so far.

Back on the Ark now.

Backup first, Select the offending parts individually, right click, convert to editable mesh, that may fix the problem, if not same again then click the hammer, UVW Remove, click UVW, click remove Materials. Then re-apply UV Mapping and material.

Angela,

I can't help with the GMAX side of this problem but if you want to email me all the files that are in the problem Trainz asset I can cast a "fresh eye" over them.

Chris

Angela,

Your version of the Ark looks brilliant. Re the Types 15 with the black covers on the gun directors, this cover was normally painted white or was done in a kind of white waterproof "stuff". definition of stuff:.........technical RN term ! ! !

Itereus :- I think I may have fixed it, just waiting for a friend to come back with a mail as he has 2012 and I do not. It went into 2010 so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Dean_Forest :-
Yes please, I could certainly use some. Shots of hull shape, the flare and tumblehome if she has one and the stern so I can see what that looks like. I side-on shot would be great but I do appreciate you would need to be some distance back and that may not be possible. In that case section shots and if the sides are not the same where the differences are. The Ikara and Slug casings to would be great, well anything you think would be helpful in making the shp. Many thanks for this wonderful offer.

JWEwan :_
I got the black cover off a photo of her so assumed that would be correct. I cannot really make 'material stuff' in Gmax as it would pump up polys again I suspect and I am struggling to keep those down as much as possible, although one wouldn't think so by the amounts. The low bridge version I think you are talking about. The high bridge had a Fire Control whatevertheyarecalled in that position. I could change the colour if you think it isn't correct, basically to off-white or grey.

To all :- working on a few projects now, the Ark is resting for a day or 2 so I have started a sloop and the Hood. I struggled with the Hood's hull for ages tonight, just put that to bed at 0203...(!), didn't realise what the time was. But I am not happy with it so have another idea to try out tomorrow - when I eventually wake up....

Blessings,

Angela

Angela,

If its on the pic of that particular ship then I think you should leave it black, I suppose its the old story in the RN, different ship, different cap tally ! !
It still look nice.

Good day John,
If you know what was under it I am happy to modify the model. I need to get these 2 ships up to the DS today if possible. I suspect it is the same thing as on the high bridge version, a fire contol Unit.
Please let me know what you think, you are my ship expert so I take your opinions seriously.

Blessings,

Angela

A guessing game...

Can anybody guess what ship this might be?

Work still progressing. I took a break from the Ark and Battle Cruiser.

Angela

I think I must be spoiling you guys and girls, no posts for a while now.

This is just to let you all know 2 new Type 15 frigates are now available from the TPR site.

I expect they will eventually turn up on the DS as TC3 assets soon as well, I have sent them.

Angela

I am a little surprised the posts have almost completely dried up and not a single persont had a go at my little quiz, you a a miserable lot of toads, really. You don't deserve these assets I spend hours upon.

Here is the mystery ship again. I was going to put the name up but I won't bother.

Looks like another good model to me, no idea what it is though, I actually had a look on google but I couldn't work out what it could be, a bit before my time I guess, most Ships I'm familiar with had enclosed masts and bridges and not many had guns. it's been a bit quiet in general on the forum for the last couple of days.

I'll give you a clue then. A film was made about the action this little sloop fought, and fought very bravely against heavy odds. As you can see, she survived.

Angela

HOLY BLACK SWAN CLASS!!! Now all we need is some Chinese Artillery and its Next Stop, HMS Amethyst and the Yangtze Incident! (hey! You fired first, what'd you expect us to do, NOT shoot back?)

BTW, I wanted to post up a couple piccies of your wonderful HMS Solebay at work on one of my routes; thought it was worth showing some appreciation for her wonderful "shipyard" :hehe::o

sawyer811201303090001.jpg

The crew of HMS Solebay Bored out of their skulls on ASW Picket Duty, decides to signal a "Heave To and Prepare to be Boarded" to the freighter SS Arundo, who happens to be inbound with a cargo manifest that includes roughly 30-50 tons of imported Hennessey Brandy and roughly 20-25 tons of Guinness Beer; the crew intends to search the Arundo for "Illicit" cargos and, if found, seize said "Illicit" cargos :hehe:

...meanwhile, though, one of the U-boats Solebay is SUPPOSED to be watching for steams right by behind her  needless to say, when they got back home, several ships were rather scorthed and lying on the bottom, and an ash-blackened version of their DesDiv commanding officer shouted to the captain, "You've got some 'splaining to do"

Have a chocolate Medal. Yes, it is HMS Amethyst the very famous Black Swan Class sloop.

Sawyer811 :_ I liked that little storyline you cooked up there, very imaginative.

I am on something different now so no more for a while at least.

Angela

Ahh! the Amethyst, great story, great film, indeed, great ship. Looks like another great model also.

My younger brother, who was also in the mob, was on the first RN ship to visit communist China since the Yangtze incident (HMS Coventry?-I don't remember so well), sometime in the late 1970s - I think. Apparently they were only allowed ashore in groups of 4 or 5 and had to have a communist party chaperone with them all the time. My brother said his particular groups' chaperone didn't like being called 'The Chairman'!

Rob.

It's supposed to be an american fleet, but your HMS Solebay fits right in with the rest of them. Excellent work, assets such as yours are hard to find.

Well Souther1581, you should be able to make a British fleet for review soon. I have taken a short break to make a much smaller vessel for my email pal and she is almost done now, hopefully today, so I should be back on one of the other warship projects quite soon.
On the go :- The Ark Royal circa 1941, the Hood and there is a cruiser in the wings, maybe HMS Belfast although for the first one I would have preferred a double stacker. However Belfast is in the news so she might take preference. She took part in quite a few actions during WWII and toured world wide after it so is well known and is a preserved ship in the Pool of London. Also one of the Hunt Class ships as I have been sent quite a lot of info on these great little ships and a good old Victory carge ship. On the cards possibly before these (I made a promise) is another narrow boat made with a bit more thought and preparation. Later I am thinking of one of the Assault Ships, either Albion or Bulwark. There are quite a few classes of carriers and HMS Magnificent seems to be popular in Canada as the Eagle is here. And I cannot forget the RFA's, so Rame Head is in my list, and what about HMS Endurance.... so many.
So plenty to do and another things is certain, I won't run out of subjects.
