Deleting Multiple Baseboards

Is there any way to delete multiple baseboards all at once in surveyor? I have sections of a rather large map I am working on of a DEM terrain only file route. Much of the route I will not use so I want to delete all the baseboards as such. Some of the map is so large it takes forever to delete each individual baseboard by using the function in the topology tab. I tried dragging the mouse over the baseboards in the mini map but no luck. (figured I'd give it a shot).

Example:
I downloaded "Niagara Falls" <kuid2:59012:102522:1> by fishlipsatwork. Big map but I don't want to model all of it. Just parts of it. I've been modeling whatever section I want and then deleting each unused baseboard manually and it can take a while.

No you have to do them one at a time, however in TS12 you can delete from satellite view which is easier than before.

I have that problem occasionally, too. Try doing the deletions while you are listening to a baseball game or something else that interests you on the radio or tv.

TIP: If you are doing wholesale deletions it is easy to become mesmerized and drop stuff you intended to leave in. One way to avoid this is to take a bit of time and use the ruler tool in surveyor to mark the rough limits of what you want to delete. That way you will only have to worry about crossing the lines you drew, and not counting baseboards. After you are finished with the gross "cut" you can go back and do the final trimming. Could save you having to start a tedious chore all over again. Please don't ask the reason I do this now. :hehe:

Becareful when deleting boards as sometimes bits get left behind and this can cause problems later. Small bits of spline are often left floating in space and can be hard to find after you delete a lot of boards.
What I do now is delete a board and replace with a new blank board and check it out before deleting it.

If I could count the number of bare DEM boards I've deleted...

Hint: Use the mini-map to locate the cursor very near the corner of a board. Get the camera angle very low and zoomed back just a bit. By clicking as far to the horizon as you can see you will be able to delete 6 boards without moving the cursor. The 'Enter' key will confirm a delete, so you can get a really good rhythm going if you 'Enter' with your left hand: Mini-map move to a new 'corner'; RMB on the farthest board you can see; 'Enter'; rmb next board; 'Enter' etc etc.

Don't forget to Save periodically, and absolutely use 'Save As'. If you use 'save' and either it all goes pear shaped or you delete too many boards (easy to do) then you are back to scratch. 'Save As...' gives you a cheap second chance...

Further to S'coach - The OP is on a blank DEM route, on those you can delete hundreds of boards quickly and easily. On a completed (or part built) route tho it is harder. I actually delete ALL spline objects (including track) before deleting the board. And on a completed route if you are deleting lots of boards save often - save VERY often, you are making huge changes...

Be careful when deleting boards as sometimes bits get left behind and this can cause problems later. Small bits of spline are often left floating in space and can be hard to find after you delete a lot of boards.

Stagecoach - many thanks for this tip - I have often had the problem of 'floating bits' but had never thought of this solution!
