Any assistance would be much appreciated, thank you. S&C is installed which is the only payware requirement i am aware of.

Mike.

Most route creators tend to take advantage and use the DLC content that is part of the purchase of the different versions of Trainz and that they have paid for, even if it is not installed.
A large part of the queries on this forum for lost kuids come from not installing DLC, paid for but not installed.

Yeah i know Frank thank you. I find it damned annoying though and it is also one of the reasons, why i blow hot and cold with Trainz.
Wouldn't be so bad if they named the DLC used.

That's difficult to tell which is DLC or built in even with the color-coding if show KUIDs in Surveyor is enabled.

The only way for content creators to ensure a route is pure is to install the route in a second copy of Trainz without DLC so they can remove any non-DLS assets. This is yet again another workflow thing that should need extra thinking and concern about. Back in the olden more simpler times, this kind of thing was unheard of because everyone was on the same platform.

Spot on John and back then i had more patience. These days i don't want to spend half the time searching for missing requirements.
I just want to play the flaming game.

Mike.

Even if you did ensure it was all DLC free if would be no guarantee, another route creator could sell their route to NV3 and include a new batch of packed items . I cannot for the life of me see why in merry hell these items have to be only available if you download a DLC route, its absolutely infuriating and counterproductive as fewer users are bothered to download freeware routes due to all the hassle. NV3 should conduct a poll on this issue as I think its affecting the number of routes that are being made available. Or is this a none too sublte way of getting more people to buy more content ?

Yes, that's a possibility. I've seen a big drop off of good routes recently on the DLS not that I download a lot of them anyway due to the missing assets and the ensuing KUID hunt that follows. This is nothing new to me anyway but still, there's a big drop off from even a few years ago.

The other issue is N3V up-versioning assets when they're included in the DLC. This makes finding version-specific with specific features such as PBR textures very difficult to search for because PBR is not always in the name of the textures.

With that and a Bulk update bug where the replacement process either takes forever or hangs, I gave up and decided to wait that chore out again for another day.

I am glad you mentioned the bulk asset replacement problem, John. I thought it was just on my pc, a route that would take 5 mins to replace all the same type of track.

Now takes anything up to 30 mins, to do the same job.

Mike.

I thought it was due to the size of my route. I was replacing textures and it was taking 5 minutes per texture and sometimes would hang, forcing me to kill the program, run a DBR and start over again after reverting to the last change. I ended up giving up on that project and going back to a save which cost me 3-days of updates because I not only was replacing textures, but I was also fixing little things I found along the way.

I think N3V is aware of the problem and hopefully there will be a hotfix for that soon(tm). There was a mention of that in the TRS22 Beta thread.

I understand your frustration. That'll be for a few weeks, right? 😂

I'm avoiding the Bulk Update tool for now until it's fixed. I have some track to take care of but with it broken and badly-working I'll wait.
Yeah i would leave well alone with the bulk tool, John. Hahahahaha, not sure buddy. I find trainz far more frustrating than TSC or TSW.

Mike.
