DCC cross-compatability?

Hi all.

I am thinking of getting a Bachmann model engine with 'DCC On-board' for my layout - I have a Hornby 'Select' DCC controller. I was wondering if I can run the engine with its installed DCC chip?

From my limited knowledge of DCC, one controller should be compatible with any chip, or vice-versa.

Yes, it should work. I've heard people have had some cross-compatibility problems with the Hornby system, but don't really know anything further than this...

But, if a system is said to be made to 'NMRA' standards, and the decoders are said to be made to 'NMRA' standards, they should work fine
