Anyone know if there is a 4-8-4 GS4 DayLight type loco somewhere? (That isn't payware?)

If you go to Download Station and search "Daylight" in the description
kuid_59906_4449.jpg

Lo and behold -- with ab fab "steamboat whistle"
Whole roster of coaches -including artic kitchen and rear "boat-tail"
This is creative work from 3-4 years ago -- not sure if it flies in '06

(searching this way should also show you the "Freedom Train" version)
All the best

This is a version of it:

kuid:56063:190011 (loco)
kuid:56063:190012 (tender)

and the original orange one...

kuid:59906:4449 (loco)
kuid:59906:2936 (tender)

If I remember correctly they drive like diesels not steamers that you fire and water (they are very old now).

There used to be a thread about converting them to SP4 but Lord knows where it is now.

Philskene's steam conversion thread for those interested was reposted here: http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=949

The GS-4 will run in TRS2004 and 6. I'd suggest following the conversion thread above. There are 2 steam-engine specs available for it: gs-4, kuid:81997:51440 and gs-4b, kuid:81997:51441 by Billegulla. The GS-4 model is by Dennis Marus. One of only a very few steam locos we had back in UTC but well worth the effort to update.

Re low performance - I ran the original version kuid:59906:4449 and one updated to steam physics on a pretty low perfomance system (700 mhz) without any slow downs like that. Total poly count in the body is only abt 7000 and the main bogey is abt 8000. Not really a poly hog as far as steam locos go. For comp the NYC k5b model has abt 13500 in the body and 20000 polys in the main bogey.

You asked about Service Packs for UTC and that thread talks about UTC including the Service Pack.
