Dash 9's just one example of locos missing mesh

I've downloaded some Dash9s from the DLS in the past week and none of them have worked. They have all pick chocked full of errors and warnings. I opened up the 3 I had installed with CCP and none of them had a mesh file inside. WHat gives?
 
In order to advise properly on this, can you post the exact errors and warnings shown? Right-click in the box and use Copy if needs be.

P.S. In most cases, warnings can be ignored.
 
Well here is one example.

But like I said besides them showing up like this, there are no mesh files.
 
By the looks of things, I'd check if there are any .IM files in the folder. Regarding the missing textures, it may be worth seeing if there's a similar model you can copy the missing files from.

My bad, thats what I was referring to as "textures" the IM files are non-existant.
 
Yep. I cannot get any Dash 9s to work. You would think when downloading in DLS it would automatically download all dependent assets. Does anyone have a working Dash 9 unit? Did something happen to them? I was reading an article elsewhere dated a year ago where several people were upset following an update they lost all dash9s. Not sure if it was TRAINZ or MSTS? :-/
 
You need to run the assets through Pevsofts 'PM2IM' & then 'IM2TGA'. You will then need to edit the Config.file.
The mesh files are there, they are the PM files, you need to convert them to IM files by doing the above.

The pm files should work (or at least did as of TS12 pre SP1)

The missing shadow, and missing "digit" tga's are another matter.

It would take quite a bit to repair the asset. Pretty easy once you know how, but a long list of things to do.

I would run PM2IM and IMAGE2TGA on it, then open it in content mangler - save it, commit it, and then start tackling the errors it throws.

You'll probably have to make a thumbnail (PevSoft MeshViewer program can be good for this - easy one/two click thumbnail creation)

You'll have to come up with the digit textures - you might start by "stealing" a copy from another working asset, tho you might end up changing them if they don't look right.

As for the shadow mesh, I'd use PevSoft (what would we do without this guy!?) ShadowMaker to create one.

Thanks for the insight guys.. Well I installed shadowmaker and it will not allow me to select my trains root folder. Also tried using it and it says I need mesh importer and I downloaded that and went to put the exe in with the shadowmaker and there was one version already there. Ugh
 
ARGH. I wish I knew what the heck I was doing. lol I tried repairing a few hoppers I had downloaded that apparently were obsolete models of mesh. Well I got 2 of them to work however, bogie assets ended up being open for edit however I did nothing to them and now 3- 33x68 inch North American ball bearing truck bogies are rendered obsolete in CM along with an 50ft boxcar made by Auran?>???? How does this occur? :(
So I tried reverting the bogies back. I was successful with one of them and when doing so, 2 hopper cars I had repaired previously became broken again? I think my brain is broken.

Here is a screenshot of my problem. As I said, I repaired the 2 hoppers and a caboose prior which resulted in the bogey faults and the 50ft boxcar issue. There was an additional bogey fault but I was able to "revert to original" and that caused the 2 hoppers to fault again.
 
Your main problem is you don't have the build version column heading displayed. Most of the stuff you're having troubles with is all build 1.3 stuff which needs a lot of work to be used with TS12. Either stick with build 2.9 or latter or learn about a lot of repair techniques to upgrade older assets.

Yeah Bob, they are a lot of 1.3 versions and Im learning all I can absorb and folks are willing to share. Ive already repaired 2 locos and 3 traincars to working order which were very old
 
actually, trainz 2010 say's "Progressive Meshes are no longer supported. Although they may work, you should switch to IM Meshes."
