Crewe

Segy i will BETA for you my freind

Thanks for the offer Windsor. From testing done so far it's become obvious that if you don't have a VERY powerful machine it won't run so could you please post your machine specs?

Excellent Work Segy,
what have you done/are you going to do about the APT in Crewe Heritage centre? I would be very interested to see that.

Thanks for the feedback.

Good question. From the ariel photo on Windows Maps I could see it was a relatively modern HST/APT like shape and colour but that was as much as I could tell having never seen the real thing. I just put something fancy there for now that I had available until time allowed further investigation..

Is there a readily available freeware asset that more closely matches reality? If so post the numbers and I'll update for final release (due within a week).

Segy i have to say that looks superb my friend, only problem is you will have to rip it up if they end up building a new Crewe station at Basford Hall !!
One small point Crewe was an LNWR station from 1845 before the LMS was invented so not strictly speaking LMS. and was rebuilt in 1861,
The LMS came into being in 1923,

AND FINALLY Ben signalmen are not contacted to set the points apart from orignal yard/station of departure or in case of wrong route setting or an emergency divversion where the driver need to be informed. not that i know much about these things as i have only done 30 years on the railway!!

Hi Steviez

Thanks for the compliment about the route. Has there been some proposal about a new station if so exactly where? Agree about LNWR/LMS stuff. I have a great aerial picture of Crewe yard taken in 1954 that shows the connection from the north-east of the yard, under the main southward running lines connecting to the potteries lines - these lines no longer there but have hinted at them in my route.

From what i understand the new Crewe if built would be south of the diesel depot and the former Stoke-Crewe yard link would be re-instated as a passenger line avoiding conflicts with the crossing of the station throat as happens now for certain services also the dive-under for the Manchester lines etc would be brought back to passenger standard.

The only problem with the moving of the station is that it takes it another 3/4? of a mile away from town but the station as is now is very delapidated and does not fit with modern operating methods despite the layout having been completely rebuilt in the days of the class 40's on the North Wales coast.
If you want to speak about change in infrastucture i started work in the biggest marshalling yard in Europe at the time but things change and most of the yard is now given over to housing.

In reard to the APT someone was building one for Trainz but cannot remember who, I travelled on the Apt from Preston to Euston during the testing phase and it was a wonderful train before its time.

I won't be able to run this on my computer, but on the screenshots and my own knowledge of Crewe, you have had my vote:D .

This looks a superb route - I just wish I could use it for my BR Blue locos!

Haven't looked at this for a while. Crewe is looking great segy, I love the aerial shot of the station especially. You definitely have my vote for the competition. Keep up the good work.
