Creating HTML Instruction Pages for a Session (TS:2010)

Raichase

The Original
G'day,

I've (finally) finished a layout, and was hoping to make a couple of "demo" sessions that would be avaliable for download with the route, to show people around the route, and some appropriate rolling stock etc.

I noticed in a lot of the included routes that there are instruction pages that pop up from time to time to tell you what to do. After doing some research (read: checking existing sessions in Surveyor), I can see HOW to make these HTML pages come up, but I have no idea how to make the HTML page in the first place, where to put it, etc etc.

I'm aware of the tutorial at:

http://members.westnet.com.au/nightcrawler/trainz/index.htm

Although, it has a couple of very worrying statements that make me uncertain about following it:

Change ##### to your KUID number, you may have to change 1019 to a number that you havn't used yet as it will conflict in CMP or 'overwrite' the piece of content that has that number.

I have no idea what my KUID number is (I have very, VERY basic Trainz knowledge, I just like driving the things and planting trees, to break it down for you who don't know me), and the idea that I might overwrite something is a bit worrying...

Hopefully someone out there can point me to an existing tutorial somewhere, or point me to the right thread. I did a search on Google, and it suggested a few archived threads that assumed that people knew HTML already, or simply linked to the tutorial above...

Really, a "Dummies Guide" would be fantastic.

Once we've got that out of the way, I have another couple of questions about finishing off the session, but those can wait! I've successfully set up triggers to set the points and signals, and to cross other AI trains without the AI trains getting ahead of themselves and setting the points under the players train, so I am learning!

Your KUID number is the one you entered in CM settings and is used in a content kuid as <kuid:xxxxxx:yyyy> where 'xxxxxx' is your kuid and 'yyyy' is the item number. You can also use this format <kuid2:xxxxxx:yyyy:1> where the last number is a version number. Never use zero as a version number.

Peter, thanks for the information on what my KUID is! Thanks also for the help about the version number, good to know.
