Creating an HO Model RR in TRS22PE

Having used several editions of Trainz beginning with 2006, I am now using 22PE, and chose not to get the “Model RR edition”. I have set scale to HO for my route. But I am fumbling around in the dark wanting to use splines for fascia, walls, and to use a helix to go from a main height of 54” down to a lower height of 44”. I have set units to imperial, but many dimensions still show as meters. I assume I just use 1.37 meters rather than 54”
If you have been down this path in 22PE please post any links you have found helpful to create an HO layout, and especially how to add and configure a helix.

Yes, Trainz will always display vertical units in meters.

I suppose one could do a perfect cylindrical helix. I'd cheat and increase or reduce the radius per turn so that the track is never over a lower layer.

As far as walls and facias, check out what assets others have used for indoor model layouts. I've never done one, but I've pulled a few apart to pretend they aren't models.

The late @euromodeller created some blank layouts with various helixes which could be copied and pasted into your route. Search the DLS for:
<kuid:166065:108326> MRR EMM MR Module NG30/760mm Track Helix 90cm Rad. DLS
<kuid:166065:108340> MRR EMM MR Module SG Double Track Helix 1.1m rad. DLS
<kuid:166065:108333> MRR EMM MR Module SG Single Track Helix 1.1m rad. DLS

Also, @Hagapito40 has made a couple of helix assets;
<kuid2:714951:10105:2> MRR staging helix
<kuid:714951:100287> MRR staging yard with helix

Do any of these help?

Cheers,
Piere.

There are a couple of vertical rulers that measure in inches on the DLS.

I've used this curve template to make a helix before. You just have to offset the splines and hold the shift key so the don't snap together.

I have downloaded the double track version, but it looks like the merge in TRS22 can have problems. Is it possible to open the route in surveyor classic, copy the helix, and then open my route and paste it without doing a merge? I don’t want to lose my route with a bad merge. All guidance appreciated. In HO scale I only need to drop 10” with no more than about 1.5% grade or less.

This would come in handy. It is a NMRA clearance gauge that attaches to the track like a trackside object.

Unfortunately, you can't do that.

What you can do is merge the helix route and place the baseboard somewhere else not in place such as along one edge.

Using the copy-paste tools in Surveyor Classic, you can select the track helix only and copy and paste that on your own route elsewhere.

After your successful positioning, you can delete the extra baseboard.

You could try this in S2.0, but I find positioning large items can be sketchy due to the cursor becoming laggy.
