Correct/Easiest Way to upload a route

Get over it
It's been several years since I last uploaded a route and thought I'd get some suggestions from the members here. It's a big route, actually it's Madtrainz14's Tillamook RR, which I have made a lot of changes to. I have tried to contact madtrainz14 but haven't received any responses. Last time I spoke to him his health wasn't very good. I sent him pictures of the changes I made and he wanted me to upload the route but as most of you know you're always messing around with your routes. Anyway, I'm thinking of finally uploading this route and I don't anyone who downloads it to have to jump through hoops to get it to work. My thought is to upload it with the rolling stock and locos and let the people decide whether to keep them or delete them. Any suggestions or pointers will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There may be a small issue there - you wouldn't be able to upload any content that's not under your own User ID (if you plan to upload to the Download Station).

Why is that Shane? I received permission from madtrainz14 to upload his route with the changes I made. I will give him credit for the original route. I have uploaded other routes in which I made changes and got the okay to do so from the original author. I have received no complaints from those authors. The route will be uploaded under my kuid. As I stated, I want to do this correctly. Thanks.

Please do NOT upload a route with the rolling stock on it.

I strongly suggest that you remove the rolling stock from the route and upload a session with the rolling stock instead. People can than decide to use your session or not and don't have to copy your route first, delete the rolling stock and then start using it.

I have next to no experience of uploading routes (1 only) but if I may suggest:

The most frustrating thing for people when they download a route is to get dependencies with an "unknown location". This usually means they are not on the DLS but where are they ???????? - you probably downloaded then from a site xx years ago but can't remember where, give a list of where to get things if you can.

You could check this out by having a second 'bare bones' install of Trainz and testing the route against that.

If you included all the locos and stock in the main session for the route the user does not have to use this session.

I always find deleting unwanted stuff easier than finding it on the DLS, downloading it, locating it in Surveyor and planting it.

If it's under your own user ID, then it should let you do it - it's only if it's still under the original creator's user ID that it will not allow it.
