Content Manager not showing missing dependancies?

Hi all

Has this happened to anyone before - after a recent data base repair CM no longer shows missing dependancies (yellow icon). But I know that my TS12 install has many routes with missing dependencies. If anyone can advise on this it would be appreciated.

I've seen this before as well as false errors.

I suggest highlighting groups of your installed assets and viewing errors and warnings. This may or may not reset the warnings flag and show them again as well as any missing dependencies.

Notice how I said groups, perhaps a screen's worth or two if you have a lot of content.

It may be worth a quick check to see if the icon's file still exists (...\TS12\bin\CMPData\status\missingdependencies.bmp)

Hi deneban,

Checked files (...\TS12\bin\CMPData\status\missingdependencies.b mp) Yes icon files are there.

NB: I have done 2 QDR's - may have to do a FDR, trouble is that takes forever!

Thanks for the help - all and any ideas are welcome.

If you select a route that you know has missing dependencies, and use the "View Dependencies" command, do you see any dependencies listed? Or is the list empty?

If WindWalker's suggestion comes up empty, do the extended repair overnight or while eating lunch or dinner. Backup your "assets.tdx" before proceeding.

If this still doesn't work, retrieve an old "assets.tdx" from your backups, when the dependency icon use to show up, substitute it in the UserData directory, and do the extended repair again (note: you may wish to first write down any saved filters you made recently that are not in the backup).

I wouldn't mess with anything else until convinced the repairs aren't fixing the problem.

Hi WindWalkr,
TS12 SP1-3 Have done a full EDR no change - the drop down box has "View Dependencies" greyed out. Clicking on any route known to have missing dependencies does not allow me to access the missing deps tab view - really stumped now!

Hi deneban,

Thanks for the tips have done the EDR see my reply to WindWalkr.
Will try the assets.tdx replacement tonight then run another full EDR. Will take yout advice on not messing with anything else - hopefully the above wil fix issue or WindWalkr comes up with another idea. Would lodge a ticket but that system seems to not be working out for me either!!!

Thanks again

How about the other way - "Show dependent assets"?

Hi Deneban,

Ok I did a full EDR after replacing the assets.tdx - no change - both "View Dependencies" and "Show Dependant Assets" in drop down tab remain greyed out. However going back to your other idea and selecting a page or 2 of the CMP list and then going to "View Dependencies" does work but it always show 0 in all areas! So in reality I am at a point whereby I cannot confirm an asset or a route has all it's dependencies.

I have stopped attempting to do anything in Surveyor as it may stuff up a WIP if the missing dependencies no longer show in CMP and then cause issues with a saved WIP.

I am now considering going to my backup TS12 3.7 and moving over the Local Folder from the problem install as it is the one that I download assets too and is the one with all my WIP's etc.

BTW - any luck remembering where you saw this problem before?

Thanks in advance - all ideas are still welcome.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I don't have much that I can suggest that you haven't already tried. The game is obviously unable to determine the dependencies of any of your content, which isn't a problem that I've heard of previously.

My only further advice would be:

* Check that you are not out of disk space.
* Check for Windows permission problems on the Trainz program folder.
* Backup your installed/edited content and reinstall.

Sorry I can provide anything more useful..

One thing we didn't do is watch the output during the database repair. Maybe the tddaemon is trying to tell us something. To turn on the console output, click on the options tab on the startup window, then click on the developer's tab, then toggle on "Show database process windows." Then start the CMP, and run the repair, watch the output windows and post any unusual output from those consoles. By unusual I mean non-progress reporting output. The items that really are missing dependencies will be reported, so ignore those. If the repair is smooth-sailing, we have a CMP configuration or CMP support file problem.

Oh and there are 3 asset.sql files that accompany the restored assets.tdx file - I would also import those into the repair.

"Content Manager not showing missing dependencies problem sorted"

Thanks Chris, deneban and Shane for your input.
Ok replacing the assets.sql and assets.tdx in the UserData folder with working backup copies from a pristine TS12 SP1_HF3 install and then running a full EDR sorted it out, note I did make backups of all files before proceeding (just in case).
Thanks again guys - and Shane this might be worthwhile putting into one of your fixit areas.
