Conrail Heritage unit thu Cresson PA!!

I have to say, it's nice to see Big Blue still rolling along NS lines, even if it's just an Heritage Unit. Never thought I'd see so many slug units on one train, that Conrail was the only GE in the consist. Did the the train actually stall along the pass?

Yep, its very nice

And yes it stalled, and a helper set was sent down to help her, so the 2 lead locos were taken of at once the train came to a full stop

Thanks for watching

WHY SO MANY LOCOMOTIVES!??!

"A little birdie" told me that the train had stalled just west of Altoona. They had to add a bunch of engines to make sure it didn't get stuck again.

what day did it stall on the curve? i was there 4 days ago and yesterday? i want to know if i missed it, i may have left for home too early when i was at cresson and missed it

The yellow locomotive in the consist is an Railpower 6-axle (3-axle trucks (bogies)) RP20CD, with three 700 horsepower generator-engine sets, a.k.a "gensets", which produce up to 2100 horsepower (even though the gensets produce a total of 2100 horsepower, which would make the model designation 'RP21CD,' the engines used replaced the previous diesel engines used, which produces 667 horsepower each). It was probably built under contract for Railpower Industries by Norfolk Southern at it's Juniata (Altoona, PA) locomotive facility. It's yellow paint obviously shows that the locomotive is destined to be 'turned over' to Union Pacific (who ordered it) in Chicago (or somewhere else that Norfolk Southern connects to Union Pacific).
