These locomotives were constructed from 1903 till the 1920s and saw many design changes throughout the class. Eventually, these locomotives numbered 260 members, spread over a number of 'sub' classes. These locomotives were true 'mixed traffic' locomotives, hauling both heavy freight, and express passenger services. Many ended their lives as yard shunters, and some have survived into preservation. A member of this class has also appeared alongside the world famous Flying Scotsman.

Baldwin did make a K-type loco for the Victorian Railways back in those days though. These are known as the NA class.

Not sure that I agree. The NAs I've seen are2-6-2Ts. This one appears too long and certainly isn't a T. The dates in the clue also match. The first mudhen was built in 1903 and continued to be built into the the early 20s when the k-28s came along (1923). The front of the silhouette also hints of a snow plow of drg&w design. As does the small spark arrestor on the stack.

The single dome is my big question but now I'm digging through my books to see if I can find one.

Looks more like a British loco to me, (mostly due to the train marker lamps on it instead of a main headlight). Besides, I didn't think the VR D class had quite so many members (but then, I'm probably wrong).

EDIT: I just realized that's not correct - British locos usually didn't have cowcatchers, due to law requiring all railways to be completely fenced off. So it's not a British loco then.

In hindsight then, I'm going to agree with either a South Australian or Victorian loco, but what one exactly - I have no idea.

Upcoming DLC I presume in any event? ;)

I'm pretty sure Nathanmallard got it. Though are we sure it is a 4-6-0? Could've been a 2-6-0. I'm inclined to agree with nathanmallard.

Hi Everybody
This was definitely an easy one, since I've posted pics of it for quite a while... However, I do think the 'livery' of the loco in the pic will be a bit of a surprise... :)

They are, of course, my Victorian Railways Type 1 DD class 4-6-0 tender locomotives, which are now available in the Simulator Central shop!

You can find these, as well as my new Christmas Train pack, and my earlier type 17 I wagons, in the new 'ZecRail' section of Simulator Central: http://www.simulatorcentral.com/index.php/trainz-dlc/zecrail.html

Hope everyone enjoyed the 'quiz' :)

Zec
