Clearing trees from roads, tracks etc.

I've reached the point where I will soon be placing trees and other vegetation on a new map. The roads, tracks and other objects have already been placed. Using scrapbook data to place the vegetation in large swathes, is there an easy way to avoid placing any on top of roads, track and other existing objects? Aside from being careful to avoid them. But if any do, is there an easy way to remove only those that do happen to land on those roads, tracks or other existing objects?

For me, I'm into logging so there are miles and miles tracks and roads through forests,
Using the copy and paste, I grab a square of forest and just paste it over the roads and tracks
Then I copy a small square slightly wider then road or track and uncheck splines
Paste that small square repeatively over the tracks or roads, which removes everything but the intended splines
Crude, but it works for me

When I built my route, I pasted huge squares of forest over roads and track. My trick was the track, and roads were on their own layer along with the trees had their own layer. I set-up a macro on my mouse to repeat a delete button press and it was like taking a weed eater to the forest ;). I just locked both the track and road layers, and it worked great for quickly clearing trees away from tracks and roadways.

That sounds great. I use layers a lot. I will have to give it a try, always looking for new ideas.

If you have Surveyor 2.0 just select an empty area, copy it and save it. Once you have this emptiness on your scrapbook, just overwrite everything you need, and you'll have a nice eraser.
