Changing water color

Any suggestions on changing water color in 2012? I had a hard time turning the RGB dials. They seem to move erratically and I end up getting horrible colors. And I dont see a cancel or default button so I have to exit out the route without saving when I try this.

Open a route. Hit the drop down menu, and click on Edit Environment. Click the clock in the upper left, and click on the Water Color Preview box in the lower right corner. Adjust the RGB dials and close out the Environment window. Save the route. This will apply the colors.

I know where to change it, the problem is when I TRY to change the dials they move erratically and I cannot get a real color of water. You dont want light pink water -- And problem 2 is there is no cancel or default button so I have to exit surveyer to discard the change
