changing uploaded files?

I just uploaded some sound files (birds etc), but finding them on DLS, i realize they are under the category "building structures". I guess they should have been under "terrain features". I didn't see that option when I made them.
Where would that be????

Is there a way of changing that once they're on DLS already? If I get them changed (providing someone tells me how), can I then upload them anew, and will they then replace the old ones?

These are my first, so you will have to excuse my ignorance. I'm trying to avoid making faulty stuff, and cluttering up the wrong categories.

You should download and read the Content Creators Guide, or CCG, from Auran, as it answers a lot of questions like these.

Yes, you can resubmit them once fixed to your liking, and by modifying the kuid number it will obsolete the first submission and substitute the second. If you used kuid:1234:5678 for your first submission, then your revision would be numbered kuid2:1234:5678:1 If you still dont get it right, then the next number would be kuid2:1234:5678:2, the last digit being the revision number.
 
I did download CCG, and I'm reading it excessively, but I guess, I haven't read it ALL yet.
I knew I could create a new version, like you describe, but I guess my question is if it will replace the old one, or will they both then be on DLS? Or is it like the ones I see in CMP that state "update available" ?

I assume you are using TRS2006 or TC. Right click on the item and create new version. Then make the changes, next put an obsolete tabel entry in to make the initial kuid obsolete. Have a look at one of mine that has versions on it to see this.

I'm a bit ignorant of how TRS2006 and beyond treat this question, but in TRS2004, the tag that determined where an asset shows up was called category-class. The possible entries for that were 2- or 3-letter codes as per the list below.

When the list was made, the designers were pretty limited in their vision. You will see there's no specific code for something like a sound object, so you must use your judgement. There was no code for 'terrain objects' so my suggestion would be BS (building special) unless TRS2006 has added a better code.

Yea, I've been going through that (similar) list in CCP as well, scratching my head as to where to put it. I guess for lack of better places, I ought to change the code to "OA" (animal kingdom), and hope it will show up under scenery?
