Changing route textures in the config file problem

Subways and railroads
I still haven't find out a way to solve this problem.

I cloned Magicland's both NYCTA R46 subway car A and B and named them KTA R44 subway cars. so now i cloned his R46 route textures and made my own like Boat did for his Sen City 2006 route. i edited the textures and save them, but the problem is when i go to the both of the cars config.txt file i put the kuid of the new route textures in the between the two arrows right where the original R46 route textures kuid were, now when i go into surveyor mode and click on unidentified a blank table of destinations come up instead of having the textures i made.

Can someone please tell me what did I do wrong in this act?

You lost me after the cloning. I guess that is why we were taught to avoid "run on" sentences.

read it again now and tell me what you think and then see if you have a solution

Can you tell me the original kuid #for one of the cars that you cloned? I need to see how the "route texture" is set up in the config.txt file.

Its actually a clone of magicland R46 subway car that was named into the SIRT R44 subway car. you can find both A and B cars on the DLS, but heres the Kuid

kuid:307629:1009 A car
kuid:307629:1010 B car

I cloned these cars and tried to add my own route textures to them and thats where the problem came in.

I think I see your problem. Did you change the texture kuids to the clone kuids in all instances. Recheck all the dependencies and make sure you have changed the kuid numbers to the clone kuid any place the original texture kuid appears including the kuid table at the bottom of the config.txt file. If you open for edit using explorer, you can use the search function to find the kuid that you want to change. Be sure to "save" and "commit' any changes that you make. Otherwise, no changes will be made. Hope this helps.

when i save and committed the changes, i clicked on view dependencies to see if the route textures are a part of the train and it was in the list of the trains dependencies, but when i go in surveyor mode i to get the route textures none of them come up.

thats exactly what i did. when i saved the changes you'll think the route textures are a part of the train from the results but it really isn't.

"thats exactly what i did. when i saved the changes you'll think the route textures are a part of the train from the results but it really isn't"

If it's part of the train config file you can change it. If it's part of the original mesh you can not change it. But it sure looks to me like the original creator of the car intended for it to have changeable boards.

what can i do about that

When I downloaded the "A" car I noticed that the car itself and the various dependencies all had numerous faults and errors. Where you able to "fix" these errors? The reason I am asking is because numerous or serious errors can prevent Trainz 09 from committing the asset. Other than doing a systematic step by step review of the changes that you made, I am fresh out of suggestions. I still have a feeling that you missed one some where. I only say that because I have done it and then wonder afterwards, "How did I ever miss that"

Do You have the correct entries in the config.txt of the texture-group?
For a texture-group with <kuid:xxxx:yyyy> (or <kuid2:xxxx:yyyy:z>) the destnames tag in the extensions container has to be destnames-xxxx.

Peter

Did you edit the destnames list in the Route Textures extensions container to agree with the words in the texture graphics?

Bob

Here is an example of a config.txt:
Code:
kuid <kuid2:[COLOR=Red]61015[/COLOR]:1000:1>
kind "texture-group"
textures {
    0 "0.texture"
    1 "1.texture"
    2 "2.texture"
    3 "3.texture"
    4 "4.texture"
    5 "5.texture"

The numbers in red have to be the same.

The numbers in red have to be the same.

That is what I was saying in post #6. Perhaps I did not make it clear enough. Also, since these are 2004 assets, they are faulty in 2009.

In the kuid-table change the kuid behind skin to the kuid of your texture-group. To import the destnames into the DestSignTable rule, you have to place a traincar, using the texture-group, on the tracks.

Peter

i got it to work now thanks for your help
Instead of asking every week about the LCD and rollsign textures focus on route building. You are annoying and constantly ask and ask when you know I and other people can do them or make them.I see potential in you but your begging has to stop build a quality route then you will receive your reward. It takes me about 2-5minutes to make 1 or 2 rollsigns and about 10 minutes to make some R46 LCD signs.
