Change Properties screens background and type color?

In Surveyor in my TRS2009 system, when I open any of the Edit Session categories, the Properties screens have a dark blue background and thin black type, making them unreadable.

How do I change the colors? Someone responded when I asked this question a few years ago, but I didn't save the answer. I do remember that when the correct location was opened, it looked like part of the programming (C++?), but was readable, like a text file.

Thanks for your help.

Click the Trainz icon to get the launcher. Click Options - Display and switch the display type. That helped me with an NVIDIA graphics card.

Hi Bob,

I tried that, but that wasn't it.

The place where I was able to change the background and font color in those Properties screens was in an actual code file.

Thanks anyway.

In your display options, did you try vertex offset settings? This may help the font issue if you're using an ATI (AMD) video card.

John, that doesn't sound familiar. The font issue I described is the only one. Everything else is ok.

Sniper, the gs files look more familiar. I'll start browsing through them.

Thanks for your replies.

Well, let me know if you find it, I've been hunting thru them for "color" and "colour" and "#35586B" which is the HTML code for that ugly green-blue background, no joy yet. Lot of black or white text you can change in some of them, but no background fill I can find.

ugly green-blue background

Off-topic, but that 'ugly green-blue' is "petrol blue" and was the colour of the girls uniform (skirt and sweater, thankfully the blouse was a more 'sane' green-blue floral pattern) at the school I attended, so the whole thing of using trainz can be rather traumatic at times :D

On-topic, I wouldn't rely too much on the colour being specified as that RGB value in the config or scripts, it may very well get some slight distortion by the gamma controls and what not as it passes through Jet.

Personally, I suspect it'll be either defined in a css file hidden in one of the .ja files, or in the core program itself.

If I remember correctly, the color was specified by its name.

I haven't found that place yet, and the .gs files don't look as familiar as I first thought.

Hi Art - Was it this thread?

I don't think the background can be easily changed but each command or rule can often be adjusted to show up more clearly. Open the gs file for the command and look for the font tag. Sometimes the tag is in a helper file.

I use #FFFF00 for a bright yellow text on the blue background. Sometimes you have to experiment to work out which lines to change and which to leave.

YES, IT WAS!!!

This time, I'll put the printout in a safe place. And my Trainz 2006 and 2009 are backed up on an external drive if I make a mess.

Thank you, Trevor. I appreciate your help.
