So, I have a question that people here, may, or may not be able to answer.
Currently working on getting measurements to build a CB&Q 5 chime step top whistle, and was wondering if anyone knew dimensions of the Chambers, and overall diameter.
One of my coworkers just finished up a shop built D&RGW 3 chime step top but went back to school in Florida, and took it with him, our Superintendent is the only person who has a decent collection of whistles, and I'd kind of like to add my own whistle flavor to the railroad.
A few coworkers and myself and planning on building at least 2 whistle bowls, with interchangeable tops. I'm planning myself on a CB&Q 5 chime, but am also interested in a Santa Fe 6 Chime, and I have a friend who wants to build a Hancock 3 Chime longbell.
We have 5 1/2 inch superheater tubes (new of course) that we were planning on using. We still need to find material to build the bowl, and of course the skill's are at the shop anyway, and its not our first whistle, so we sort of know what we are doing.
So If anyone has any measurements on any of these whistles, please let me know! I need inside chamber lengths, and overall diameter, to see how close each whistle is to the material available.
