Carlingford Railway Line

I lived alongside that line from 1986 to 2020. It was, at the same time, one of the more interesting and the least used of the lines in the Sydney Suburban system. I started a thread on the occasion of its closure for conversion to light rail.

Interesting :) I did the Carlingford line in MSTS and lost the entire project due to a track database error :(
There's a cab ride video on youtube
take notice of the wooden post ;) These were part of Sydney's wooden post electrification era, the Carlingford line was the last line to have these historical wooden post.. Gone now, no thanks to the government!

Hi mate,

Just wondering if you've started on your Carlingford route? If you haven't, I've traced the entire Carlingford/Sandown lines in Google Earth dated 3/2007 'Historical imaging'. This is also a bonus as the Sandown line was still in-use for fuel and goods trains to load up and depart, the proof is there in Google Earth ;)

I've uploaded the Carlingford/Sandown module on the DLS, it will be available on the DLS soon. It's not an official route, so don't expect anything too fancy. I've also uploaded 2 more modules of the Newcastle line and Ropes Creek branch. Don't expect the Ropes Creek branch to be perfect either, blame Google's imaging for that, it's also single track to make it easier for editing.

Hi PhilChorisch01
As an avid NSW rail modeller I will certainly take a look.
Is it kuid 553403 20011?
I can understand some of the frustrations of building a route, so I am on your side there.

Just keep plugging along!

Hi Tracksupervisor,

I don't get frustrated at route building, apart from MSTS gradients 'I know how to use MSTS gradients now' thanks to everyone that has helped me with that :) Sadly, I can't finish off my routes in MSTS because I just can't get MSTS working on Windows 10 even though I do have Nvidia graphics and HP does allow me to use the 3d settings but they lock up everything else 'I'll never get another HP product again'. If I knew how to setup the 3d settings for MSTS, I could finish my routes in MSTS...

As for TS Classic, fail to save will result losing my entire route! With TS Classic continuously crashing, this is the only thing that frustrates me the most... If only Dovetail Games separated the editor from the main game base.. I should try TSW4 though, I can use Lidar data ;) ;) No need to worry too much about gradients there HAHAHA

I can edit and build routes in Trainz. I've got no issues, learning 2.0 can be a bit challenging. But super useful to add or delete multiple baseboards ;) I did create the routes on the DLS so that others could finish them because I've got a lot of projects in TS Classic, from rolling stock to routes and scenery! It's not easy to do everything by yourself..
