Cannot log into MyTrainz for some reason

Taking into account that electricity on those countries is remarkably cheap...
That's a possibility but the AWS services is worldwide and to provide better performance for customers located in various parts of the world, they have setup datacenters in those locations rather than have all the traffic go to single datacenter in a single location.

The fact that the data is redundant is really what saved us. The datacenter in Bahrain is one of many throughout the world and N3V and Amazon were able to relatively quickly move their operation to another colocated server. If all of the data was housed on a single server without this redundancy, everything that N3V and we have would've gone up in smoke.

TRS22 does work just fine offline. I was able to do what I needed to do for the weekend without needing to log in ...
Surveyor 2.0 might not work offline. (I don't have S2.0) ... But as stated before, the game will work just fine for about 30 days after its most recent contact with N3V servers....
Thanks both for this response. I thought TRS22 needs to validate when it launches by logging on to MyTrainz and, if for any reason it can't, then the game will not launch? But maybe there's another way of playing the game offline for a period before it needs to phone home?

@Paulsw2
I don't know of any other way to run the recent versions of Trainz. Many Trainz users enjoy going online to access to the Download Station, so N3V adopted the current policy of online authentication. It's not perfect as it creates a need for users who do not have Internet access at home to find a way to get their system online once in a while. In my case, Trainz is installed on a laptop since I'm not willing to haul my desktop around.

When you launch the program it will attempt to contact the N3V servers. If the contact is successful, it will reset the program's internal calendar to operate another 30 or so days. Then the program will run normally .

If the contact is not successful, it will check if it has been more than 30 or so days since last successful contact. If it has been less than 30 or so days, the program will run normally.

If it has been more days than allowed, the program will not run.

So if it has been several months since Trainz has been run, it will insist on a successful contact with N3V servers before it allows the program to run again. If that happens when the servers are down, you will have no success until the servers are up again.
