Canadian Rocky Mountains 2011

Did you mean Banff Springs hotel uhhh?

Dear friends a few years (3-4?) the first attempt with version TRSxxx this rabbit I pulled out of an older hat with existing objects.
I not sure yet what trick we have to do this time but I take it not to serious and go with the flow the day i stumble on the front door of the hotel in my route ready to do something or just take the old one like in this pictures.

Probably somewhere next week after finish the golf course and surroundings i address the Banff Springs hotel and other buildings nearby.

It is in the eye of the beholder what you eventually want to see.

have a great day and thanks for posting!

I redefine prototypical to make ugly buildings look acceptable

I just cannot make ugly buildings fit in a nice landscape. if ugly blg in an ugly neighborhood that makes sense but not this one.
My first attempt to get a building look and feel like but still my way Banff Springs resort WIP

Morning Barrie,

I think this is close enough for the look and feel now just find some for the surrounding buildings and done, move on and start sculpture with a jack hammer the mountains near Banff and than check the entire section repair all the yes again spontaneous missing deps splines and see if we can release this one in the upcoming month"s:eek:

Yesterday i checked Assasin creed III winter version and get some real nice idea's how we could use the snow drift, wind around corners, walking, driving in fresh snow and leave foot prints and a trail most beautiful and realistic.
I would love to make my route Winter ready for E2 Tane whatever name with these functionality implemented so a train can drive through fresh snowpack, a ski doo, a horse, car, plane. chopper, and walk freejust roam in my routes is my final destination for the next 2 years with E2!

Enough revealed and James Moody and colleagues if you read this let me know your thoughts and support on this.
Long time i not hear from you anymore but that is not unusual (and means you feel you are not yet ready for me right?).
Hope you guys are in full swing sorting all the paperwork and priorities and get started, one month already gone.

More Ways to Enjoy Roy's wonderful Route - Road, Plane, Helicopter, Catamaran, Horseback, Gondola .......

Note that I have made alterations to the original route to make driveable roads, new trails and aircraft paths. I have also done an asset change to put in seasonal trees that Roy wasn't allowed to include in a Payware package. There are just so many other ways to enjoy this whole new world that Roy has provided for us to play in.

Thanks Roy!!

Hi Roy, Glenn & others,
I've only just stumbled across this thread & haven't even scratched the surface trying to read it yet. I have so many questions but I'm sure most of the answers are buried in the thread somewhere so I'll save them for now.
I lived in Calgary for about 18 months & couldn't help but be awestruck by the Rockies. Or first week in Canada involved a Gold Leaf trip on the Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver so Roy, your route is familiar territory. Nice work on the accuracy too.

I felt I needed to post here once I saw the aircraft (above) in use. I'm a newbie to Trainz but have spent most of the time buried in Vulcan drivable aircraft re-skins. Sometimes I wonder whether I'm wasting my time but to see them posted here and there keeps me going. I'm particularly proud of the Twin Otter because (as with many of Vulcan's aircraft) I was heavily involved in development. There many other aircraft available in all kinds of shapes, sizes & colours. Vulcan builds the models & Pascal (papou) & I do what we can to provide the skins. I have a very long list of to-dos (I cover the Americas & Down Under) so if there are any you guys need more urgently please send me a PM or post on the "New Aircraft" Thread. (Some of you have already... incl. Glenn). It would be great to see some of these screen shots on the New Aircraft thread as well.

Keep up the good work.

Rob

P.S. apologies for re-posting the pics but they are a few pages back & I kind of needed them to tell the story.:o

Hi Rob,

thanks for the great post and repost Glenn's1 He did a great job on many things not only airplanes.
Very good to know you are an aircraft re-skinner will be handy soon for me too to fly from Calgary to Revelstoke and later further to Vancouver...

I am sure fellow trainzers will contact you too.

have a great weekend

Cool stuff Roy....

Dying to see nightshots of a game park on your route...eyes reflecting in the loco's lights - owls, hyenas, lions, fireflies, buffaloes , cheetah , water scenes etc..etc...:udrool:
But I know the lone ranger is very busy

Banff

Banff's looking good Roy! Almost spooky for one familiar with Banff in person...

I'm now up to page 56 of this thread in catch up mode but I'm staying in touch with the current stuff as well.

This will test your route work & screen shot prowess. I like to challenge.
Below is a photo taken from the Inns of Banff (cnr Bannf Av & Marmot crs) on the Eastern outskirt of Banff. This one is taken looking west toward Vermillion Lakes.

P.S. Roy I sent you a P.M. Not sure whether you spotted it. No need for a reply. Just making sure you saw it.

Morning Jannie, Rob

thanks for posting and yes would be nice to have features like in Assassin Creed III but tony confirmed the budget for that was a multiple of what Trainz has available so i would be more than happy to have just 3D animals of sorts walking around.

Rob thanks for the pictures and sorry I cannot take the challenge due to limited blocked draw distance and a simply not up to the challenge weather system in Trainz.
My hope here is that mist/fog and low clouds in short a real good weeather system will allow me tocreate the typical mountain weather look and feel.
so for a challenge in pictures wait till year end or earlier if I get hands on testing things and able and allowed to post results.

Remember I created a Trainz a like copy of Banff but of course most if not all buildings or not true copies but have the the look and feel or the ambience to make it close enough or simply if i thought it was to ugly my interpretation what buildings would fit better in my Banff world.:o

Hope it is close enough or better sometimes than the real world.

btw in Valley view and Middle Springs i used different buildings this time not because better just because I was tired to look up again what fits best. Probably in a later stage i will replace them when i feel fresh and have enough energy to look and find them.

you have a great week

Roy:wave:

Rob ps yes thanks for the pm!

Roy,

My bad. I probably didn't get my intent across very well (as is so often the case with electronic media).
I wasn't suggesting you match the weather in the photos. They're not especially good photos by my standards and that wasn't the intenet so sorry about that.

I guess I was more interested and excited to see how far your Banff work had come with a personal familiar reference. I completely understand there will be differences but some of the work you've done in the area is already giving me goose bumps from recognition. There's a couple of screen shots you guys posted (#1546 with the Shell Gas Station) that I'm sure are taken of right across the road from the Inns of Banff that I spoke of previously.
The Norquay shot was more my interest to see what the draw distance limitation really is. If you could take the shot regardless of result it would be very educational if nothing else.

Tonight I've been reading your first winter works in the thread (page 60ish). It's very exciting following this thread from the start. It's like reading a book! I've seen the last page but still don't know the ending!

Cheers & keep up the good work.

Rob

Roy,

This is terrific! I look forward to driving the next installment in your series. :)

This route and series is quite an undertaking. The graphics are spectacular and driving a train with cab-control over the mountain pass is even better. The only thing missing is the vibration and smoke from the CPR diesels as they growl through the pass.

John

Morning Rob and John,

Rob you intention was well meant and no pun intended I know.
John thanks also for the nice and good feeling post. I need lots of energy at the moment to continue this happens over and over again it comes and goes in waves like real life things we do the bets we can under given circumstances.

I just anxiously wait to get some real weather system inplace to mimic these in Trainz like the real life.

The most important hurdle N3V shot themselves in their foot(feet) not one time to built in a draw distance lock and give low end computers the feeling they could handle high end games almost redicolous.
Who got punished, all those out there and for sure the majority of serious trainz users who had a system in place that could handle 9km up easliy without crashing and even if crashing knowing how to handle the limits of a system without being dictated and downgraded to newbees trainzers shut up, accept and enjoy alike comments hearing...

So here some picts of city scape views with yes draw distance locked to less than a few hundred mtr noway to avoid unless outside the city where the scenery looks almost normal.

Still we need as they promise a substantial better viewing draw distance feature with i hope and expect 15 to 20km or up distance feasible than we have a chance to get real mountain views from cities or any vantage point.
This said and trying to hide my years of frustration and anger her 3 picts not nice but show what i talk about.
I continue to finish Banff in the expectation and confidence the end of the year my patience might be rewarded and if not so be it (at the moment)
