Canadian Rocky Mountains 2011

specs copied from post #477

@Rail4pete: here a copy of post #477!

Thanks Carfreak4 thank you but here is the amazing surprise most people won't believe.
to develop this megalomano route of more than 2000 km full 3d prototypical takes more than just guts and knowledge and of course time. For the development it needs a good strong computer and here are the specs:
  1. Asus rampage III motherboard bios version 0402 08/13/10
  2. CPU I7 intel family X 980 3.33 GHz overclocked 4.2 GHZ Win7 64bit of course never crashes so far on trainz
  3. SPD DDR3 3 slots each 2048MB Max bandwith 667Mhz
  4. Gygabyte GTX 580 runs very well
  5. Few 1 TB sata hd
  6. Intel x25 M sata SSD 80 GB for testing route super fast!
  7. Zalman 3D monitor with superb stereo 3D view
This config we configured and bought in Bangkok 2 years ago all in for about 3k usd which is more than you can wish for for that money and service.

Yes this kind of desktop is more than handy to run extensive tests and develop routes like this and it works almost flawless.

2weeks ago we used my sons Acer aspire 44xx i forgot the exact number here but a 4year old notebook not for high end gaming just a sweet and fast normal notebook for a price than he told me around 650 euro...... Well what we saw trainz running untuned not tweaked at all at fps you only could say WOW,WOW holy cow.
It made me feel very good since my original thoughts and concept of my route designs where made in such a way that despite the enormous amount of data and detail it should still run well to very well which was proven on this Aspire. what a sweet feeling you can imagine seeing running ocemys heavy detailed container trainz fully loaded 100car consists as if it was made for it.
I remember me testing last year on my very old Acer travelmate 8810 was it? i was already chocked it run not very well but run at descent fps but that ati card in their was a toaster already when I bought but the heck most people today have more than descent computers desktops and notebooks alike and the hardware only gets better and not always more expensive so do you need NASA grade computers ??? Noo i tend to say to follow Virgin airlines concept and fly to space with the new designed lightweight super planes to space i.o. Nasa dinosaur spaceship should be retired indeed.

@MTW thanks my friend and you know honest if we could post infinite picts and upload we would post more than this as we see so many nice corners spots on the fly not even looking for it it just pops up like fireflies we have here around the house by the hundreds!
We feel so blessed with this route it is so full of pleasant surprises and run the video 50 min every night before sleep and say wow each time it look kind of different and spectular not getting bored by it means YES it has that magic touch what every route builder dreams of incl us:mop: so close to reality you might get addicted to it if not careful:p

Also for hardcore rivet counters

OK well i have to admit my fps was a little bit off and I adjusted it with fraps fps showing in 7 picts here when running double Ocemy loco ND5 and a bunch of box cars. shots in dfifferent positions of course and draw distance 5km all sliders full, what can I say.....sight i must be a happy trainzer achieving these kind of results right?
I fully agree and here is the catch this route only get better by getting older as hardware and software normally only improve so we are in for a super trooper ride for as long as N3V keeps the machine well oiled and upgraded.

ok the satellite view covers approx here 55-60% of the entire route the screen is to small to capture the entire route so do not worry its more than 8 hours straight end to end drive if not longer......zzzzz

this is what cab view draw limits does to my vistas absolutely shameful but what can i do it is not my fault but N3V not willing to change the cab view into a vista mode view like roaming view yes less fps 3-4 but he the vista is what you really see from inside the cab.

If hardcore rivet counters still dig for unseen unknown i rest my case and feel sorry I cannot make their day.

Roy n Ning:cool:

Looking incredible Roy! Have you been hanging with Deane? If you see him in your country tell him we all said hello.

Wow! 8 hours end to end. That's not boring at all with all that great scenery. I thought my High Line route was going to be long. 3 hours plus end to end at the posted 35 mph but it's got nothing on your route.

I assume you're building in TS2012. Are you using a special rule or add on to get your map view at such a expanded view in the 5th picture? I'm using TS2010.

Yes we met Deane and do again next week

Thanks for the nice comment!!. Yes we had a good time in Pattaya played bowling, relaxed drink a beer and talk trainz drinking coffee all day. He fly to us next week before going home and visit the ultra secret trainz war centre high up in the Phu Pan mnts.:hehe::hehe: and then I can show him the routes under construction 4 and this one and yes 3D stero but some people gety head aches from to long watching like Ning but that's ok it is really cool 3D on trainz in this route.
Yes We will tell him but he checks once in while the forum even in holiday he is a real addicted derilict :p.
Al the routes ended up on TS12 as 2010 is trust me a waist of time and so much better even with the typical N3V flaws and bugs always itching when not wanted but we know them by now and have kind of to live with for the moment.
The map view just go in trainz options and play with the surveyorfov high enough I think I use 80.That works for 2010 too, but why you not change to TS12??
What you think of the fps that is what I call absolutely cool for a route of this size and really i know kind of what I am talking about.

@MTW and @jjanmarine thanks guys actually the picts where meant to show the fps in the upper left corner and as many times happen to be nice too:udrool:

@MTW, i had that feeling as the posts talk about nice picts and not about amazing FPS which was my original intention of pointing at.
Nope unless you point at pofig's lib where Jan put some grasses etc..., grass is from our dear friend Jan jvc he has absolute great stuff which I use forever since he created them. They work fine but billboard trees not always do the job people expected as most trainzers for some reason think the biggest priority in trainz is saving objects further than the track for better fps and the result is than what you asked for but not what could be done.

Those are great frame rates for your route, Roy. I can only imagine they increase as you move the POV closer to the train. Well Done.

Big picture saying still counts

If one doesn't see the big picture the detail is of no use. something similar like this also works for trainz as anything else in life.
Routebuilding is more than laying tracks, planting trees, shrubs and grass, erecting bldgs, bridges, painting the entire ara calling texturing and making it seasonal I can go on one more i-portalling (new word)5 huge routes into one interactive railway system that is the big picture. the pictures in this thread only show the detail in 2D. first there was land and mountains later came the RR it works the same way in Trainz.
Well said :hehe: May I say so, yes we can hmmm heard that before somewhere.
Ed yes in general fps goes up big time so what I show is average fps not big city where N3V kicks in the draw distance allerter to halt as if we all have cheap computers that can crash any moment, what a shame these guys policies is similar to politicians and austridges in some areas allow me to say.
Just saw Andy is kind back but not out of the woods I think.

if LOD's prperly implemented not true just opposite

Those are great frame rates for your route, Roy. I can only imagine they increase as you move the POV closer to the train. Well Done.

Here is the catch Ed! When trainz rolling stock and loco's have the correct LOD's implemented a.w.a the scenery the old fashioned thought of all nearby thus less detail is not correct so in some cases its stays the same because less objects ....are viewable but if POV is at max set LOD compensate or even better show more for less...
makes sense right?
Today I noticed again on the forum some individuals have that immense stone age urge of infesting parties/threads by posting opinions that make you wonder if they still have dipers. Good we have the edit tool and try to silenty retreat from this rubbish.

@tyard, thanks buddy....I have to reset and stay away from the forum more as it only distracts the wrong way. This morning i tried to have a normal conversation with Dermmy and we had our respected opinions and some morons jump on his thread to infest it unmannered so hastily I emptied my post well meant to dermmy and will refrain from any thoughts in the future and just do our thing. I had in the farrest way any intention to start a bushfire but some peopple just love to throw crackers on the horses wagon with the known results
