Buildings Wanted

Just wondering if anybody knows of buildings with an architecture like the main buildings in these pics. Color, canopies, smaller buildings, even shapes etc. aren't as important; it's mostly the style that I'm looking for.

Check some of the European stuff, mainly Polish and German. The building is very similar to what is found over there along the railways.

Leeferr did some interesting masonry station structures, and when you check out the European stuff don't forget the Spaniards. They have done some excellent work.

Thanks, guys. I did already check out all the Spanish and French stuff I could find on the DLS. I'll check out more Polish and other European stuff, but I haven't seen anything reasonably close so far, even on third-party sites, let alone the DLS.

Google - there are many European web sites for Trainz with assets for download.

I have many dozens in my bookmarks; I easily visit more non-UK European and Russian sites than all others combined, including American ones. The problem is that there are too many. I'm trying to find one or two items out of tens of thousands of pieces of content.

The trick to non english Assets is to just download indiscriminately.... Then go looking for the missing dependencies. The russian Community for Trainz is incredible. You simply ask for a few KUIDs, and as long as they're free and not on kuid.ru, they'll generally post them on a File sharing site for you for a few days. This means you can go around just downloading tons of assets meant for other people. Then you get to sit down and sort through what you DLd, but its not that hard. It helps if you can figure out the words for "Missing KUID", lol. Google Translate can help this endeavor.

If you have, or can do, rough drawings for a plan, side and front elevations with approx dimensions I could probably knock something freelance up for you.

Was looking at this again. That middle photo you posted looks like it came out of Sketchup? If thats the case, you can import Sketchup models into Trainz.... Its not a great solution as Sketchup has a tendency to be Poly Count Ignorant, but for something as small as a Station it should be ok. I'm currently using half a dozen Sketchup models on a route I work on because I'm fairly certain that, even if I found someone willing to make them, its highly unlikely I'd get an end result near what I'm looking for.

It probably is from Sketchup but it was done as a PR pamphlet by SEPTA in anticipation of a station improvement project that is now underway. I don't have access to the model and odds are they contracted out to somebody anyway.

It's not a big deal. I am quite capable of making these two models myself in Blender, though I may take itareus up on his offer simply because I need to take a break from modelling and actually work on my route. I had hoped, with all the Euro stuff out there, that maybe something like these had already done. Frankly, the trickiest part for me at this point would be getting proper textures; the station is being rebuilt, so access is limited. I do appreciate everyone's help, though.

One of the things I really like about the SKetchup Models is that you can add Poly's under the Photo-real Skin and make it look incredible. As long as the skin was taken in Daylight from all angles..... So on that note, Id suggest why not just use the pics you have atm and cobble together a Texture from that? Its not the easiest thing in the world, but its easier then trying to create your own textures and then coloring everything appropriately after Modelling every little detail. Buildings are usually more difficult to texture then say Locomotives because theres so much more variety of Color, and then you get Night Modes, and Shadowing.... Gah what a Pain....

And I could suggest to at least check Google's 3d Warehouse before you get too involved. 15 minutes on that site might save you 15 weeks of casual development.... You'd be amazed what people do and don't post on there.

Good Luck with whatever you decide,
Falcus
