Build Update to 117118

Perhaps I'm wrong about the build number. But I am absolutly sure I streamed to Train Plus. I can't tell what build I have now because I cannot open the darn thing.

TRS22 = 117118
Trainz Plus = 117092

Also, Trainz Plus will show the Trainz Plus logo on the Launcher.

What happens when you try to start Trainz?

Check there isn't a TRS22.exe running in Windows Task Manager.

The whole idea of this update is a small amount of pain for a whole lot of gain. By using different build numbers the confusion about which build you have should no longer exist (from now on).

Tony,
Unfortunately, I cannot answer the first two questions as the simulation will not start. So I cannot tell you which build it is and what the logo is.
I was running TrainzPlus and when prompted to install the update did so, following the procedures and using the TrainzPlus stream.
And there is nothing running in the Task Manager.
God bless all those who have installed the update without issues but, in my experiences, it has been lots of pain and frustration for some gain.

Doesn't start at all? You're not giving us much information to assist. What do you do to "start" Trainz and what happens?
Have you run the TRS22.exe from the install folder? What happens?
Have you tried reinstalling?

Charlie,

Are you getting a program can't be found type message after the upgrade?

The previous short cut breaks and you need to create a new one from the program-folder i.e., C:/Program Files/N3V Games/Trainz Plus, or something similar. I can't remember exactly what it is offhand.

I thank all of you for your assistance in trying to get my simulation up and running.

I have it working again but had to save all my "personal" files on a seperate drive, delete TRS22 entirely, reload the game to my main drive and re-install my personal files to the appdata location. Took about a day of loading, waiting and crossing fingers but Build 117092 is up and working.
A lot of work for a bit of pain, as you say.

Tony, I'm sorry but this was all the info I could give you as I followed procedures to the letter and never diverged from that procedure. I tried starting it from the desktop, tried starting the program from the TRS22.exe, tried starting it from the TRS22.exe as an Administrator, all with no joy.

John, no, there were never any messages of anykind anywhere. The game would simply not start up.

Hello everyone, 'confused' paul here again. I've read all this, but I have no idea what's going on, so I'll just leave everything the way it is and not take any chances! My only sadness is that what I thought was a TrainzPlus intallation seems to have mysteriously turned back into TRS19 Platinum (build 117009), but at least it works. I also have have TrainzPlus build 116492 - I have no idea what it is, or what patch it requires - it appears to be some sort of TRS22, but who knows? I'll just leave it as is.

Now I'll return to my PhD research into advanced quantum mechanics, it's so much more straightforward! Anyone for Schrödinger's Trainz?

Paul

Paulsw2 - The latest (PC) version for Trainz Plus (Trainz+) is the beta Build 117092. It is essentially a preview of TRS22 that also rocks Surveyor 2.0, the 'next-gen' UI/ utility for Route Editing, so definitely worth a look.
You can upgrade your Trainz+ Build 116492 to 117092 by switching the patcher to the Trainz Plus beta stream.
This build has proven to be very fast and smooth in operation and relatively bug-free. Recommended.

Thanks for the advice. I activated the patch for my TRS22 build 116492 and it defaulted to the Trainz Plus beta stream. I thought, OK, I'll give that a go - take me to beta build 117092 for the very fast, smooth and relatively bug free experience! However, once through the check-in, the dialogue indicates that it will patch from build 116492 to Trainz Plus beta build 116912. What is build 116912 and how does it differ from build 117092? And how do I get to build 117092?

I feel as though I'm trapped in a Trainz labyrinth!

Paul

Gidday Paul - Patch from 116492 to 116912. Then you have just one more patch to do for now: - from 116912 to Beta Build 117092. See this link for Tony's advice about this near-final release candidate and my comments about the actual patch experience below that.
https://forums.auran.com/trainz/sho...Plus-Beta-117092-amp-TRS22-Pre-Release-117118
Make sure you also update the TRS22 CONTENT from the Content Store and apply any updates you see there too, to ensure that all of your content is fully installed and up to date.
This can take much longer than the simple patch update from 116912 to 117092 (which of course you need to do first!).
Good luck on this mission. (The Good News is that this patch has proven to be very stable and performance is superb).

Thanks for the further advice. Actually, I'd gone back and tried again - the Trainz Plus patch (not beta) offered to take me direct to 117092, so I plumped for that and patched accordingly. TRS22 is now in 117092 and first impressions are that it's very fast indeed.

Paul

I was informed today that there was a patch available for my version, I've ended up with build 117300 of which I can see no info, there is no surveyor 2, what have I done wrong?

A Confused old Man, Gam :(

Ok, thanks, so now I need to know how I install the Trainz plus version without making a complete hash of my current installation?

Regards Gam :(

gamerouche - Here's what Tony_Hilliam had to say for the beta patch before this one:
Trainz Plus Beta 117092 & TRS22 Pre-Release 117118

Two new patches out today, more to come tomorrow. We'll also update this page with more info a little later today.

NOTE: This is not the final build but we're getting close! The main point of this build is to enable testing of MPS by TRS22 owners, and to check out the latest content updates.

Trainz Plus Patch
Trainz Plus Beta 116912 to Trainz Plus Beta 117092 (PC) - Trainz Plus Beta patch stream

TRS22 Retail Patch
TRS22 Early Access 116492 to TRS22 Pre-Release 117118 (PC) - TRS22 Beta patch stream

Trainz Plus vs Retail
To make it clearer which build is which, we will no longer be providing Trainz Plus features through "Retail" builds.

Note that in this update, there are people who are on 116492 who are Trainz Plus members, or TRS22 retail owners. Therefore if you are a Trainz Plus member and choose the TRS22 stream, you will end up with a retail build and lose access to your Trainz Plus features.

Of course you can reinstall Trainz Plus from MyTrainz, but we want to make it clear about the differentiation.

This change means also that there will now be Retail updates alongside Trainz Plus updates, since retail owners will still need access to MPS for example.

Of course, Trainz Plus members will still get additional exclusive features.
Looks like you need to go back to your previous Plus Build, then patch from there to 117297 to once again see the Plus stream and Surveyor 2.0.
Did you save that earlier build? If not, download the latest Plus build available to you from your MyTrainz account online and then patch from there, being careful to choose the TrainzPlus Beta Patch Stream this time around.
Prior to that, make sure you backup your UserData folder to a safe place, so you can reconnect it to your updated Build 117297 once the patch process is complete.
Good luck with this quest! :)

No - the folder called 'Data' in the root directory of TRS22 that contains the trs22.exe game executable is a built-in container for some sundry icons, config files and the N3V EULA. It is one of the base Program folders constituents.
Rather, you need to copy (to another safe place) the folder containing your UserData - it will be the one pointed to in the path shown for your 'Local data folder' at the top of the Install tab in your Launcher's Trainz Settings dialog.
This is the folder that contains all of the assets you've downloaded from the DLS to date and all your DIY-created or modified routes and sessions stored locally.
I usually keep that folder on another SSD and name the folder descriptively so I can distinguish this precious repository from other builds or versions of Trainz I have on various hard disk drives. (For example, for my Plus version or Trainz, my UserData folder is named 'TPlusUserData' and it is stored inside the TrainzPlus22 program folder (the one that contains the game executable) so that routine backups amount to simple copying of that entire folder to another SSD and/ or external drive for safe-keeping.

Thanks again but I think I'll just stick to what I've got, I just don't trust myself & at least I have a working installation of TRS22 to play with.

I Appreciate your help.

Kind Regards Gam

I am not so confused as bewildered. It seems the Mac users are as forgotten as always. All these upgrades, I have payed for the GT and also Trainz Plus and have a nice Trainz22 going. Suppose to be a Plus beta but I have no idea. The last build number is 115635. I have no idea where this falls in all the lists? It tells me there is no update but my update stream is shown as Trainz 2022?
ON THE BY<
Is there a max on bases in a square. I am freezing at any over 480!
Thanks
