and thanks for the apology scottling but it isnt always easy just trying to do "off map" data just of nearmaps and google earth

Hello Everyone,

Scott, I [Same with my friends but they maybe made more than I have] have already made such routes; mostly QR Themed up to 25 different routes; mostly over Christmas Holidays..when you could not go anywhere:hehe: . But I take the advice.

I will contact Garry-Jerker, to see if he as not put it up on Victrainz.

You asked for feed back and Scottling gave you some. What would you have done had another community member said the the same thing ? There are three types of feedback. Positive, Constructive and Negative. Positive feedback is always great to get but sometimes must come after some constructive feedback has been passed. Constructive feedback should never be dismissed straight up, i had some constructive feedback on one of the shots i posted last night, i could have dismissed it but i took it onboard and fixed the issue. Feedback like that is just as important, helps us evolve our maps into something better. Good maps are not rushed they take time to evolve so dont be so hard on Scottling. Take the valid and constructive feedback onboard and you will see the level of your work improve.

Here's some feedback:

I can see now that it's going to take a long time to iron out the kinks in your trackwork.

I appreciate you doing the trackwork for me, but please, try to do it a bit more slowly so that it looks half-decent next time.

There are some basic guidelines that content creators follow:
1) If it's worth doing, do it properly.
2) If it looks like the cat did it, it's not worth releasing
3) Use the Straighten Track tool.

Luckily, I can fix this up, but please, in future, take it easy, compare your DEM images with Google Maps AND nearmap.com. And for goodness sake, try to make my job easier! Remembering that this is MY project, and that you are assisting me by doing the trackwork.

That is all.

I will be passing the route to Ghostryder for signalling and applying speed signs once I've corrected the mistakes.

Happy Trainzing,;)
Scott.

Yep, found that out with my CTA route. Don't rush the trackwork. I ended up deleted 90% of all the track I laid because I did not measure distances, or follow up with Google Maps while placing the tracks. I don't have any DEM's to work with, I'm eyeballing everything, but so far, the 2nd incarnation of the Chicago L is fairing far better then my first attempt

Ghostryder,
which South Brisbane are you planning; interstate station on the western side yes or no?

QGR Turntable at Sth Brisbane yes or no?

Fairfield Rd level crossing or overpass over the line to Corinda?

Dutton Park line towards the Gabba I assume but will your Gabba line extend under the Lota line yes or no?

Park Rd interstate siding yes or no?

The pattern of these questions; southside when I grew up :D

Thanks
Petan

Hi Michael,

thanks for the quick reply but they were questions so what are your answers? Which of the two options for each question have you done?

For those not aware, the Sth BNE turntable was removed and replaced by a bulk handling depot for a road haulage contractor. This was a different turntable to the Gabba turntable.

I have been watching the screen shots and I have been full of admiration for everybody's work. I lived through the earlier era as noted on my http://petan.net/railway/gabba.htm

Cheers
Peter

Hi Michael, just how far are your plans in geographic terms ie are you going as far as Beenleigh or down the Lota line instead or across to Corinda?

Exactly what time era interests you?

Thanks

Postcards from Brisbane 1959

Hi Peter C,

On my version of the QR City Train map; QGR Brisbane Suburban 1950's I have the Interstate & South Brisbane Station [with turntable, and yards], The 'Gabba Branch which screenshots are some where on this wall around Ipswich Road, Albert, scenes of the bridge under the Lota line, Dutton Park but i have built up the Wooloongabba Depot/Yards minus that elusive turntable and the wharves+ the tunnel now.

At the moment, the era is from 1949-1960; becuase the SCL did not close beyond Nerang nor did the Cleveland line too. I am working on a DEM of the 1889 South Coast Line which will link up at Beenleigh. I am waiting on the DEM of the Ipswich Line from Garry.
---------------------------------------------------
I will work on backdating other sections when they become public and release my own version of the QR City Train Project.

Screenie Problems!

Hello Peeps!

I'm busy trying to juggle study with trainz, and trainz seems to be getting less and less attention...until now. I'm having problems with Trainz when I hit printscreen to capture the shot, it only takes the desktop behind the game, and not the game itself.

I want to show you guys the Nambour station I've conjoured up, but with everything taking so long in my world, because of TAFE, there's one item I could really use, and thats an ICE.

I'd like to know if anyone is working on them, because I've got a picture of every distination board (from inside the cab) and on www.wuiskemodels.com/prototype click on "Long Distance Trains" not "Electric Suburban Sets" and many photos of the ICEs in original livery and transitional liveries are there. I've also got a blueprint.

Cheers peoples,

AJC

Don't mean to be niggly here but I do hope those photos were obtained in some sort of legal fashion as one could get into some trouble. QR have been stepping up observation of internet sources. We had a staffer in trouble recently for something someone Tweeted. Just a word to the wise.

Photos

Don't worry mate, I took it myself. The driver let me into the cab so I could take some photos of it. I'll upload them with my copyright on them, so no-one SHOULD steal them, but we all know how it is....

Hello chaps.

Well, I have some good news and some bad news.

The good news is, I'm finally on school holidays and I can get back into route building. :D

The bad news is, that's not likely to happen.

I am not motivated for route building right now. Trainz has started to run slow. I now have 1018 content updates, a constant "server full" message and no FCT, missing, borken, faulty or non-updated assets all over the place, and way too much fixing, fiddling and refining to get through.

So, I wish to advise that all work is stopping on Brisbane CityTrain until I can get this mess straightened out.

I apologise to all who are looking forward to this route. I am too. But I simply cannot face the task ahead at this point in time.

Please PM any questions, complaints or queries.
Scottling.

Scott- imagine the neatness of Roma St, 1 train coming in on platform 1, another on Platform 3 33 seconds later, a freighter flying in on platform 7, followed by a EMU a minute later, the outer suburbs, an EMU coming in, 1 minute later another coming out, the steam specials

just one problem with that, there is no more platform one at roma street and if there still was a platform one it would be an XPT occupying it

Cricketstar has a point, there is no Roma Street Platform 1. (I guess that's what they call the bus depot. :hehe: )

And no freight goes through Roma Street, they don't want fumes in the tunnels to Central and Brunswick Street. All freight goes round the RNA Circuit now.

TRIVIA: All long-distance services from the north go around the RNA Circuit in order to arrive at Platform 10 facing northwards. The Westlander from Charleville also goes around the RNA Circuit, through the "Hole in the Wall" track at Bowen Hills, and back down into Roma Street Platform 2 or 3.

I might have another go at it, but progress is going to be slow. I hope to at least get Roma Street looking good. Expect screenshots soon enough.:)

I'm off to a birthday party later on too, so it may be tomorrow before anything happens.

Happy Trainzing,
Scott.;)
