Brisbane CityTrain Thread

And on that bombshell...
Brisbane CityTrain Thread - all shots 640 x 480 pixels

The Christmas holidays are fast approaching, which means I will soon have six weeks to get to work on a little project I've been dreaming about doing for years.

Okay, so it's a bit bigger than little. But yes, I am recreating the Brisbane CityTrain network in Trainz 2006 Build 3092. I have started work on Central Station and will work outwards from there, north to Northgate and south to Park Road. This will be the base section, and every other section will grow from it. The other sections will be Ferny Grove, Caboolture / Nambour, Shorncliffe, Cleveland including Port of Brisbane, Gold Coast and Ipswich. I'm not sure whether to put the Tennyson branch off Gold Coast, Ipswich or both to meet in the middle:o . The base section will also include the Exhibition circuit, Mayne Yard, Airport and Pinkenba branch lines.
This is a screenshots thread, so I will post some shots of progress from time to time and updates to go with them.

This is a major WIP, okay? Cool:hehe:

I am looking forward too these holidays. I have to go to work with dad, and I can probably be able to bring my laptop. :)
Good luck with the route!
Can't wait to see some screenshots

Wait no longer! My first shots coming through....

A view of Central Station with it's AJS platforms.

The tunnels on the north side of Central, leading to Brunswick Street.

More coming, stay tuned!:)

Thanks Ronayne! I'm starting intense work on Roma Street Station, copying the whole complex track structure from Google Earth to Trainz. It's quite a job, I had to adjust the measurements four or five times, and I'm still cramped for space!:hehe:

Coming slowly but surely.

I can't imagine how hard it is to make everything as it is seen on Googlemaps. :o

This is very exciting news, Scottling! :D Looks really good so far!

Keep it up!

Just a suggestion (if you don't want to take it on board, thats cool), you can get a lot more flexibilty out of Catenary if you use the UK Catenary built into TRS2006. Also, there are tunnel catenary that are compatible with the UK catenary on the DLS which might be useful for Central?

Just a suggestion...

Thanks for the suggestion Mitch, but the UK Catenary I find is very hard to get along with, because I would need to adjust the height of every spline point. The reason being, the catenary's too short for anything to 'pass' underneath. Sure, the game lets you, but for real life purposes, I prefer the QLD Catenary.

Beginning work on Roma Street track 7 today!

One more shot, then I'll really have to crack on with it if I ever want to finish it!

A view east from Roma Street Station. I fyou hit up Google Earth and look at an aerial view of the area, you can see how close I've replicated it. The 750 Metres is the distance between Central and Roma Street.

I'll have to get working now.

wouldn't it be easier to use whats availabe to speed up the process of costruction of the network cause then all you have to do is create from roma street to ferny grove, caboolture then use the extension to rockhampton, update the shorncliffe, do the ipswich and add in the tennyson part that links corinda with yerongpilly

Thankyou for the suggestion, cricketstar. I don't really want to use other people's work in my recreation, because they might be offended by it. So if I recreate it all my way, with my track preferences and everything, I can enjoy it myself, and/or release to the friendly Trainz Community.

Anyway, back on topic, progress updates!

Roma Street Track 3-9 covered and electrified
Yard complex east of station coming together.

I hope in the next week or so to start on the following things:

Exhibition Circiut (Roma Street to Bowen Hills via RNA Showground)
West side of Roma Street Station
South Brisbane Station including Merivale Bridge

Merivale and William Jolly bridges from Ianz Trainz (vulcan)
Also, should I include the new 'Go Between' (yes, that's what Lord Mayor Campbell Newman called it:hehe: ) Bridge just west of Merivale bridge?

I'd include the Go Between. That way it makes the route present day and opens doors for possible rolling stock such as the new IMU's and SMU's to fit in with the present day scene.

Thanks Mitchey, will do. I already have the IMU and SMU from WilliamG, and the EMU from alby6. The Go Between will be a feature in the base section.:)

i was just saying that so it could be released sooner and could you please show some more screenshots:D :D :D

are you also going to go up to gympie north

Not sure cricketstar, how far north do I have to go past Nambour? If I'm not careful that section (Northgate - Caboolture - Nambour) will have to be split into two if I go all the way to Gympie. And the street directory doesn't go past Pomona, and distances (from Central) up to Cooroy only. I'd be in the dark past Nambour.

And yes, pics coming soon, I've been a bit sidetracked sorry.

im just saying it would be awesome to have the entire network

i also think someone is working on the QR ICE's

there is a forum where someone was paying people to do them

:D :D :D
