Brisbane CityTrain - 800x600 pixels

Not a lot, but nice work Scott!
What are the container wagons behind the 23 and 21??

Jamie

Hello y'all.

I have a screenshot just to keep the thread alive. I have changed the track, have got updated wires, and should be finished the station soon. Apologies for the appalling lack of progress, I just haven't had time or motivation. Anyhoo, on with the screenies!

Brisbane6.jpg

A busy morning at Roma Street. QR #2308 and 21xx lead a northbound container train into the wye, while the Cleveland-bound EMU departs platform 5. An XPT is waiting in the interstate platform, which is soon to be built over with the bus terminal.

Signalling, electrification and interactive stations soon to be added.

Narrow gauge track is available from the QDRTrainz Yahoo group, it is QR 3ft 6in Track 09 by alby6. WilliamG has provided the updated catenary I mentioned, as well as a crossing sign and several new locos.

Happy Trainzing, I have a lot of big, new screenies coming up, so don't nobody fret none!:hehe:
From Scottling.;)

how did you make the citytrain norrow gauge

Hi Jamie.

Those wagons are QR BOAY NG TRS by glt0145. (kuid:45335:15047)

@woodieshouse1, if you mean the EMU set in the midground, that has standard gauge bogeys at the moment, the creator was going to make NG bogeys but disappeared and has not done any further updates.

Happy Trainzing,;)
Scott.

UPDATE

Hi QLD Trainzers, and all others interested.

I have a huge update.

As of a few days ago, I now have a helper on this mammoth project. I have enlisted the lightning-speed building of Jake, a.k.a Cricketstar for the northern half of the DEM map I have at this point. He has offered to do the entire base section while I construct the Gold Coast line, but I do not have the skills to make the DEM for that line, and Jerker from the VicTrainz forum has been hospitalised. So I'm a tiny bit stuffed.

I hope that this is good news to you folks. I am not kidding, Cricketstar has done more in four days than I have in four months! So the first section may, for the first time ever, have a release date in the foreseeable future!:D

Happy Trainzing, and expect screenies from one of us soon.
From Scott.;)

well i am using scottlings map that he sent ver and i have completed the ehibition circuit minus the normanby yard and wash, im kind of looking foward to constructing the MAYNE YARD, its going to be confusing considering the DEM style is like the street directory so i have to rely on nearmaps.com.au ad google earth and the line diagrams that scottling is going to be sending me soon

cricketstar,
That is an awesome job, what you have done so far and what you have to do. I hate to sound critical of such fine work but I am sure you would want such a thing accurate. I am pretty sure that the 'hole-in-the-wall' is a fair bit tighter in curvature than what you have pictured and a bit shorter lengthwise. Have a look at GE and you will see what I mean.

Scott.

Just as a matter of interest. Anybody can make the new bogies for the emu ;)
It is easier for the creator, because he can release the emu with the NG bogies.
However if a set of bogies were built by another enterprising young fellow, all one needs do is go into the EMU config file and manually remove the existing the bogie substituting it with the new ng one.
This goes for anything out there. Just a reminder, because we used to see this happen 5 or 6 years ago, but rarely these days. Nice to see Ghosty and Greg Cash are upgrading a lot of QR stuff to NG as well
Cheers
Rod :p

the problem with creating bogeys for another persons content is that some people dont place the bottom of the wheel and att point @ 0 in gmax. this is done either because they dont follow the accepted standard or they dont want their bogeys used on other pieces of rollingstock by non creators. As a creator you can adjust the att points to suit a bogey, but as a user you cant adjust anything.

Hello all.

Cricketstar's progress is to be commended, especially as he's done ten times the work in a tenth of the time.:D

However, and I don't want to sound too critical, you may notice where in shot #2, his bridge over to the Ferny Grove branch is wonky and, to my knowledge, also standard gauge.

Then, in shots 3-5, I'm not quite sure those platforms are bent that far? And perhaps bring the tracks a bit closer to the platforms, as well as lining up the track points with the platform points.

Now, I know this is Jake's first large project, and I'm really impressed with his effort. But as I pointed out earlier in this thread:
hurried building = lower quality = less user enjoyment.

I think Cricketstar may benefit from taking a bit more care in his work, taking careful measurements, and perhaps a dash of the straighten tool.:)

Otherwise, excellent work!

Anyone who takes offence to anything I have said, please let me know.

Happy Trainzing,;)
Scott.

scott yeah i can confirm that ferny grove is not standard gauge because i have traveled that line so many times because it is my local line

ok and i have fixed all the problems scott brought up but there will be problems with platform widths to get passenger enable platforms

G'Day Pete
What a fickle lot we are
However these EMU's have been around for a long time.
Surely someone like yourself with the necessary skills can work out what attachment points were used and just duplicate them?

I guess I am not a creator so don't know what goes through these fellows minds :)

However recently I talked with someone who built stuff 8 years ago. And he was actually sad that they finally stopped working in version 2006.
I said it was time for him to return, however he is now firmly entrenched in another hobby, with no chance of returning to Trainz.

But I still think that the QR EMU's should get new bogies, they will fill a hole in the new NG Queensland routes until the next versions are built.
Cheers
Rod

Its Terminal, Guys

Hello' Guys

Scott; Sad to report, I have lost all of my work regarding the Backdating of the City-Train system to 1950's/1960's. Could it be possible if cricket could please email me the CDP and I could start again from there.:o

If I could add anything to this project, please let me know.

Kind Regards
Michael G

If you do send Trainz89 the CDP for the route, cricketstar, be sure it's the one with the Airport/Pinkenba branches attached. Make sure that one has a new name to avoid confusion.

I'm sorry to hear you've lost your progress Trainz89. I understand that my map was already too built-up for your purposes anyway.

However, and this is a spur-of-the-moment thing, the DEM is still available on Jerker's DEM page on the victrainz forums. http://www.storage.victrainz.com.au/Jerkers_DEM_maps/
Find the route "QR CityTrain.cdp", download and you will have a clean slate. I don't know how you will work the route into Brisbane around through Corinda when Corinda is not on the map, but I'm sure you will overcome.

Happy Trainzing,;)
Scott.

PMG Wing of Q.G.R

Thank You Jake, I have PM'd you my details, and i love what you did with Mayne but I am doing to do surgery with it and turn it back to the old congested yards, imposing signal cabin back in the mid 50" and when I had a railway station.

Scott, Good, you did get my message about Jerker, he is much better and still with us. He send his regards.

If you lads, need a uber cool ghostbuster billboard, just let me know. I will forward it. Oh lastly I will take some pictures of the actual Roma Street Station Building and Bull-nosed Platform Awning. I would look much beter than the one you got now.
