The missing dependency arrived, but still unable to load on to track. The loco's appear in surveyer but that is about as far as it goe's.
Can anyone explain how (in trainz for dummies language) to install these items into TC3. They appear in all other editions of Trainz that i have installed.

thank you for your reply, i have tried post 961457, but no matter what i do i am still unable to download the required loco's
i am obviously doing something wrong. can you please explain in simple detail.

I've only just noticed this thread, you would have got an immediate answer asking it in the NBL release thread.

Open the offending horn dependency (class 50 horn) in CMP, change the Trainz-build entry to 2.8 then commit.

Simplez!

The same basic principles apply for any version of Trainz, if you have a dependency which is of a higher Trainz build the asset won't show.

The original is build 2.4 and still available on the DLS, kuid2:68236:1030:1. If you look in any of the NBL assets that's the one I'm using and that's the specific asset I've referenced in every config, not the 2.9 version.

Hi, tmz06003,
Thank you for your reply, Simplez to you, and obvious to many others. But to me it is a foreign language. Sad to say, NBL 2.4 2.8 2.9 mean nothing to me. Guess i will have to skip the Downloads. Regrettably !
Regards.

Or you could put some effort into it & learn how it works & what things mean.
I am in my late 50's, I'm not what anyone would call a 'computer whiz kid', I still have a lot
to learn about Trainz myself, but just by reading answers to other users questions on here, plus
asking others on here, for help (it's out there if you look) I am getting the hang of it slowly, I can
now fix a fair bit of content problems, thanks to the guidance of others.

It's worth it in the end. ;)

NBL= North British Locomotive (the builder of the 21s)

2.4= build number for TRS2004 (like it says below your username on the forum)
2.8= build number for TC3
2.9= build number for TRS2009

Does that help at all?

Can you use CMP (Content Manager Plus, a function of Trainz)- if not then there's no way we can really help you sort this. However if you can use CMP then it is a simple fix and I can give you a step by step guide.

I agree with Blackwatch, at first when I used Trainz I was totally hopeless, I couldn't even rotate the camera view in driver! However curiosity and determination kept getting the better of me and the more you try the more you discover just how easy problems are to sort yourself.

I started using Trainz a few years ago, and was bitten by the bug a whole new world (possibly a hide away from the real one) Graduating from basic trainz to trs2004 then onto trs2006 and reluctantly on to trs2009.
Unfortunately my computer at the time was unable to cope wiyh the type of layouts that i wanted to create. I took the plunge and purchased a much more powerful machine, and the results have been great.

I like to create very high detail layouts all of the little odds and ends that go to make a layout almost photographic. I now use TC3 and TRS2009. On the odd occasion when stumped i ask a question on forum, and in most cases the replies are very helpful. Trainz became a hobby that could be used in a fixed area after i had a stroke, The stroke left me physically disabled and caused problems with the part of the brain that controls comprehension and memory. This causes problems with the technical side of trains, so i end up struggling with trying to comprehend and remembering things. It is a bit like being a child again trying to learn to read and write and not doing so well. Blackwatch I find your answer to my question arrogant and offensive, I do not need you to tell me to make an effort to learn i am trying to learn by asking questions on the forum. If i do not understand the answers, i cannot learn. Yes in my present condition i am thick, and i need it explained to me perhaps as you would a child. I find it rather humiliating having to explain my shortcomings on the forum, but may be there are others out there that do not ask questions for having the embarrassment of feeling the way i do at this moment. My thanks to tmz06003 and clam1972 for there help and time, but i must admit i still do not understand the answers. Regards D-RAIL.

That's the problem with forums, we can't see the people behind the posts.

Blackwatch didn't mean anything by his post as he like everyone else was not in possession of all the facts, I don't think his post is out of line based on the posts previous to this and the information we had to go on.

We now know the situation so are in a better position to help you appropriately.

I'll try a step by step guide, this usually helps, as you mention it may or may not solve your problem but this is as far as we can reasonably give help to others on the forum. If this doesn't work, short of someone coming round and doing this for you there's no other solution!

Bear in mind here I don't have TC3 so I'm using TS12 CMP and hoping it's the same!

If anyone out there has TC3 and notices any differences feel free to correct my guide shown below:

1. Double click yout TC3 icon

2. Click the content option, this opens content manager

3. In the search box on the left first click clear then type class 50 horn

4. The one you have installed on your pc will show a little black laptop computer symbol next to it. It is kuid2:68236:1030:2, this reference is displayed on the right of the content manager screen

5. Right click on this asset select edit, then another screen appears and select edit in explorer

6. The asset then opens up and displays a windows explorer screen, anyone using a pc will then be familiar with this format

7. Locate the config file, it will be easily noticable

8. Double click this file and it will open in notepad

9. Look for the line:

Trainz-build "2.9"

10. Change the "2.9" to "2.8"

11. Save the file (Click file then save option)

12. Close the asset with the x at the top right corner

13. Go back to the content manager screen, right click the asset then select edit, another screen then pops up and select commit

14. If the asset shows a red exclaimation mark there has been an error in this process, let us know if this happens and we will take it from there

I really hope this helps you, it does seem complicated but it isn't really, it is just that I've been extremely concise with my guide in order to help you out.

Let us know how you get on with this if you decide to take up the challenge!
