Bought a ticket... but why?

So I bought a first class ticket tonight as I got tired of the slow download speeds and the 100mb limit a day. I decided to go with the full year... so... where are my first class download speeds? The max I have seen is 18KBps... which.. is a bit faster... but damned slow for the internet connection I have. It will still take days to download all the content I want to download... the routes... locomotives... rolling stock... and since I cannot play the game while downloading I have the choice of not playing Trainz2009... or not downloading content. I was expecting at the least a download rate of 100KBps but was hoping for somewhere around 300KBps...

What is going on here? Can I get my money back for the first class ticket? My computer was never on long enough to download 100mbs a day unless I left it on while I was at work and while I slept at night... since it seems I will still have to do this, a first class ticket was a damned waste of money.

One note: I did notice if I close and open the content manager, it will start at a speed of more then 100+KBps... but quickly drops down to +- 15KBps...

Is it not activated after you buy it? If not, how do I do this? I got an email confirming the purchase, but it was not really that readable.

.....

After closer examination. I do see where in the email, although hard to read because it is not formatted, that it does tell me to click on the activation link... which is not in the email...

Okay, so I found out where to activate the ticket. And it also states in the email that some mail programs will not have a link due to the use of JavaScript... so... sorry for my rant.

Although, it has not seemed to improve THAT much. I now get a download speed of +-20KBps... WTF? And it seems to be decreasing as I type this..

Contact the Auran HelpDesk and get them to check your FCT is actually activated - mine wasn't, and they had to do it manually. Rest assured, you DO get faster download speeds.

Activation of the FCT is not necessarily immediate. It could take an hour or so. Let us know when it's on.

One basic function of the FCT is to put you into a different queue so that you don't get the too many users message (something like that)

Have fun.

i forget how i activated mine, but there were a few steps. i think (this is from memory) i purchased it, went onto the website and activated it, then started the cm2 and went to settings, then i reentered my username and password, after a few minutes, it found the FCT. put it to you this way, on an average file i get 400 kbps, i downloaded pretty much everything until scenery on cm2 and it took about 1.5 hours to do. hope that helps (sorry if i have stated something you have done)

FCT

Buying a FCT really isn't alot of money laid out per year...if you really want a SLOW download speed...you can always spend hours, and hours, and hours, downloading, over a whole nights time, WITHOUT a FCT, and I mean:sleep: S-L-O-W:sleep: S-L-O-W:sleep: ...I thiink a FCT would be much faster ! I've heard complaints about the so called high price one pays for Trainz:'( ...but no other game out there gives you so much for FREE stuff as Trainz does. Don't really think anyone has need to complain about how much, or little, bang you get for your buck ! ? ! Trainz is Great !

If the FCT worked it is more then worth it. I have no complaint with the cost. In fact I thought it to be a damned reasonable cost. What makes it not worth while is the fact that it does not seem to be working for me. Sure, I can download more then 100mbs of data in a day now. But my connection is only getting at 20KBps, which hardly makes it worth while. Like I said else where, I will give it a full 24 hours to kick in, but if it does not by then, I am requesting my money back and going back to letting it download over night while I sleep... as I have to do this now even after having paid $20 for the FCT.

It's very evident that you know nothing about which you speak. At $20 US per year, that's only $1.67 per month and that is MORE than worth it.

Well that sounds like a fine course of action. It's too bad you are having problems with it. When it works as designed it's pretty handy.

Just to make an update. It has been over 24 hours since the purchase of the FCT and my download speeds have yet to go above 20KBps.

How do you download via FTP... I normally get speeds of up to 600KBps downstream... a bit less upstream, though that is normal.

You would imagine if Trainz Downloader Pro works flawlessly, then CM2 should behave the same. Would I be wrong assuming this?

For many people here, that is what we turn to to download stuff with our FCT.

I hope that Auran can get a lot of us back to using CM2, when it works.

I know there are a lot of people out there, and their CM2 works. But if TDP seems to work for everyone, then so should CM2.
