Just curious Andy, those crossing lights in the image of the truck; did they come from Auran, or did you make or substantially modify them?

come with the game.

then according to Aurans upload policy, this route can not be uploaded to the DLS. Shame... Good thing he has a web site to post it on.

I confirm that the files contained in the package I am about to upload to the Auran Download Station: is free from all computer viruses; does not infringe any copyright, patent, trademark or other intellectual property rights of any person; does not contain any 3D meshes or textures created or distributed by Auran that have not been substantially modified; is in compliance with the Auran Content Creation and Distribution Policy; and is appropriate for download by all members (including minors) of the Planet Auran community. Auran is no way responsible for the contents of your upload package and can in no way be considered liable for any of its contents.

if he uploaded it to the DLS it would not contain any meshes or textures bla bla... its a route, that object would be a dependency. this means not to take the same piece of content in the game and upload it unchanged.

S-CLOLBI-1 (Clovis - Long Beach stack) gets under way after a signal check at Duoro NM....

In 06 to get any fps at all I had to settle for a head-end cut of well cars with trailers making up the bulk of the train. Now that I have finally shelled out for 09 though that is 8,000 feet of double stacks with reasonably long draw distance (3000m) and all smooth as silk. Yes,the train is a tad underpowered - there is another big GE motor on the rear - but stack trains out of Clovis are scratched together from whatever is available and are seldom the hottest trains on the route. And also Yes - the UP unit would generally be tucked in behind but it is the latest acquisition in my roster and is temporarily enjoying pride of place...

Dermmy, where can you find those intermodal cars (the ones with the containers double stacked?) I would love those for some projects of mine!:udrool:

They are by CNR and are available in 3 and 5 car sets in various roadnames from TPR's Download Depot on this page. There are more on the Page 2 link at the bottom of the page.

I have a variation of the BNSF cars available which load 40' containers by default - see here. Pretty sure Philskene has other versions with alternate default loads available also...

Very VERY nice shot Dermmy! One of the most realistic I've seen in a while...

Just out of curiousity, is surveyor in 09 that bad? I don't have it but am leaning towards getting it eventually. Sorry for the waffle...

Looking forward to more awesome shots!

apparently it is hit or miss for some lucky people, like Andy. i have never had a problem with it and have been beta testing since before the release.

with an exception, in sp4, but its a known sp4 problem, unrelated to this discussion.

Thanks Gisa. :)

For me it is. But 'for me' means just that. I still build routes in 04, so most of my content is old. Lots of 'old' content has issues in 09. Most of the issues could probably be fixed, but that only helps me. Anybody downloading the route would have a mass of 'broken' content to fix, or a dud route. The route runs in 09 at about the same fps as in 06, but for some reason almost any Surveyor edit crashes me out. NS-37 on the other hand tested the last version for me in 09 and had almost no problems, so there is some background issue going on also. Which all adds up to 'too hard' - I don't have all that much time to give to Trainz, and I'd rather be building routes than 'fixing' old content.

It's also worth remembering that it took 4 service packs to make 04 the wonderfully stable platform it became, so I haven't given up on 09 yet. When it does run, it absolutely kills 04 and/or 06...

My pleasure. ^^

I see now. Thanks for the explanation. I can't begin to imagine how much work would be involved in importing all my 04 stuff to '09 or '10. I'm sure 09 will improve as time goes on, however I expect Auran to stop making service packs for 09 and just focus on '10 for basic stability. At least, I was hoping they'd patch TC but they just totally moved forward from there. Can't blame them as they need the money to run the show but yeah...my two cents.

I think in the end it also comes down to different computers, different parts, different drivers, different operating systems so it makes it complicated. We'll see how things go as time goes on.

Definitely lookin' forward to more awesome shots. Keep up the great work! :)

i will be honest i have not spent any time 'fixing' any content for 09 except my own. on the Clovis route in my 09 i have only changed the track type, and i have added functioning intermediate signals from my smart signal set that is not out yet in order to run more AI. the only problem i have on the route is one section near the gravel loader where the AI will not take the outside track, even if they clear and start taking it, they will stop dead from either EB or WB. i think something is just wrong with that section.
