I could never understand why, at Walong Siding it was single tracked. I would think that making the tunnel, and main, all 2 tracked would allow more traffic to flow, eliminate a freight having to go into the "Hole" (having to await track clearance), and avoid possible collisions of downhill trains not being able to stop.
I like how it specifically says, "Tehachapi Loop not affected" in the proposal. Looks like even Cali fears the legions of raging railfans that would march on Sacremento if they took the loop out!!! :hehe:
