I feel your pain - realistic tree placement is something I always really struggle with. I'm lucky, in that I've been around the state photographing trains, and I'm always looking at landscapes to see how they lie, but I can never seem to replicate the tree placement in Trainz. You see fields with scarcely a tree in sight, but you try that in Trainz, and it just ends up looking bare! Likewise, you place too few, or too many trees, and something just doesn't look real. Looking at your screenshots has actually inspired me to try something similar (the spaced trees along the road with a bare field), so even if you re-do the trees until you're happy, it's not a total loss. Cheers!

thanks for that

i've been to boonah dugandan so many times to take photo that the locals all wave now
even with the pics on the laptop besides me, i still cant find the right tree to look the right way
it can be very frustrating
i still keep searching the net for trees that look the same
i'm useless when it comes to trees and their names
a tree is a tree
that's why i use the laptop with real pics to try and get it right
never gonna happen lol
cheers mate

THANK YOU KENT!!

Once in a while, a member of the community provides a mesmorising masterpiece for us to share and delight in. Kent's ongoing, inspirational BVL project is undoubtedly one of these.

Now bear with me, my QR operational knowledge is quite limited, but I hope these images do justice to the spirit of what the BVL once represented...

The only thing I might suggest are a few log wagons for the likes of Hancock & Gore and Brown and Broad etc in Brisbane. I notice you already have some wagons for sawn timber from the local mills. More timber material from John Kerr's research http://www.daff.gov.au/rfa/regions/qld/cultural-heritage/sawmills-tramways especially "Section 4 - West to Ipswich and Toowoomba, The Fassifern Valley and Ranges, Brisbane Valley, Toowoomba and Northern Downs, Bunya Mountains and The Southern Darling Downs " with links at the general DAFF URL shown above.

Forest_Runner, generally speaking, very similar products to that which you may transport on your own "Brown Mountain" route. Certainly an inspirational route as some have noticed the BVL route's release last week has inspired me to do more research on that region as seen by my posts on the BVL thread.

Thanks Forest Runner. I've been inundated with compliments about the map. I'm glad Trainzers are enjoying it and hopefully I have done the BVL justice. Might press on with Toogoolawah to Yarraman seeing the demand is there. haha.

Cheers,
Kent

All
And before everyone starts bugging me for the Ipswich section i will be taking an overdue couple of weeks away from the map making in about a weeks time work is well progressed on updating and upgrading Ipswich as Kent will testify to as he had an advanced beta copy for the purpose of matching up BVL with my work, which will also include merging with Mark Nolans Work and Misterchuggs Work. Work will continue up to about i go away and will resume about a week after i get back unless i get bored and start back into it earlier.

This is great advice/recommendation, much appreciated. I'll dig around for more 3'6" gear to see what can best accommodate logging activity.

A few more... from the same operating session as previously.

It's a truly awesome route, Kent. This is the sort thing that would suit an out-of-the-box edition of TRS/TS. Really is top shelf stuff.

Actually, all you QDR contributors (and QR/Qld in generally) have impressed over the last couple of years. You guys look and sound like you have a really good thing going with some nice friendships to boot.

Maybe a little selfish of me, but I also hope the release of the route is also a catalyst for more 3'6" content production. :p

With the help of Forest Runner who referred me to the use of the "60lbs" branch line track, here is a photo for Muliebuck :)

Yesss Precioussss... that's the style,Dimi. That's looking far more the part for the Oberon branch.

How about a shot or two with the Pc1's, mate?? :p

PS Apologies to quote image (sheepishly backing away into corner).

I agree with the sentiments of others, *I* would love too see Kent's masterpiece incorporated into a new version of Trainz (but wait - its AUSSIE content...got too have more US stuff...) - bah too that - accept it for what it is, its not perfect, not by a long shot, but its definitely in the top 5% of routes I've seen in a very very long time. I got to give Kent credit, he's done the hard work, and deserves every acolade and praise I can give him (and I'm sure others empathise with me) - that this is a fine, outstanding piece of work, and one day - shall we have the pleasure of running the full length of the line from Wulkuraka->Yarraman and live a long forgotten 'hey day' of the former BVL.

3136 rolls into Bowen Mountain with the late morning passenger...

3136 ambles towards "loco"...

"Loco" doesn't get more rustic and primitive. A small decrepit corrugated shack, water column and semi-submerged water tank. 3136 will top-up prior to running around it's train. Note, Bowen Mountain doesn't even warrant a turntable.

Runaround formalities sorted out. 3136 heads bunker first back to Hawkesbury... the MLV in the goods siding is a rare visitor on the line, but has brought in extra milk churns for the upcoming holiday period.
