Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Gents!

A question on the side, the old Australian themed layouts from previous TRS Games, are they avaliable for download for TRS 2012? Its a bit hard having an Aussie themed route with American roads and buildings. Any help is appreciated.

If you have previous editions installed you can import them into 2012...

so I'm having trouble finding the nice concrete tack I would like so I was thinking of going back to sleepers..

If anyone knows of any really nice sexy concrete `1067 NG track I'd be very interested.

Only thing is I'm suffering with FPS with this track I can only get 65FPS max and it drops down to 48fps at the busiest places.. Grrrrr.

as for the Aussie themed Routes yes please.. not into those yanky trains.

Hey Targanon, I know trainz89 has posted screenshots of some really nice looking 42" gauge concrete sleeper track on one of his Brisbane routes, but he's never revealed where he got it from (I think it was custom made for him by chuffbuff, who posted images of similar looking track a while ago). In any event, it's unreleased as far as I know of, which is unfortunate, as it would be perfect for my Transperth/Westrail route.

However, a very good alternaltive set of 42" gauge concrete track on the DLS is the '42in track clean' set in 2, 4 and 8 metre length splines made by Boobless Ed, but released under the Victrainz banner - do a search on the DLS for KUIDs kuid2:1854:15038:1, kuid2:1854:15030:1 and kuid2:1854:15044:1.

As can be seen in the pic, they're nice tracks that aren't too heavy on the frame rates and do indeed resemble concrete sleepered track very closely. :)

First route I've worked on in any version of Trainz for at least 3-odd years.

It's VR narrow gauge, and not set anywhere in particular. This is the only section of the line that has anything resembling scenery.

The driver of the Up Goods to *insert town name here* has his hands full descending the grade past the old siding of *insert name here* (I sense a pattern developing :P) on a rainy morning in the early 50s.

Haha, if you're a member of the Farcebook group "QR City Train Project for Trainz public", then yes, yes you would have seen that pic before. :p

<<< LOL @ me LOL

yeah thats it LOL I knew I seen this all before I was like after I searched the forum for it I was like I should have been on that TV show........

Trailerail

Dunno whether this is the right place to post, but do any of you here know where I can get a Trailerail set compatible with later versions of Trainz (i.e 2012) ?

That's some pretty nice scenery scenery there, Mark... be it Queensland or Australiana in general.

Put me down for one of those... most impressive stuff. ;) I'm liking some of your camera angles and I'm always a sucker for panoramic views as well.

Between yourself, Ghosty, Targ and Patchy, you're doing your state proud with Trainz Routez representation. Thumbs up to all.

Thanks for the votes of confidence.

I have been doing some testing after my retexturing and general cleaning up of route over the last few I have put the gee wizz tracks in as well..

I have been doing some testing.

I have two version of my route right now that are the same except the track is different..

witht the Chuffbuff track in place.. the numbers I got were 70% lower the FPS was about the same on my pc.. even with my dying Video card.. (something I have order a replacement for .. grrr takes way too long to order Vids from OS specially the water cooled ones and getting the right bits to make it yourself is way to hard and expensive easier to just order new water cooled unit from the start..)
Anyways back on to the subject at hand..

I"m thinking that if I can cut 70% of the objects vertices' etc by using a less yummie looking track then in general people are going to thank me.. its not like everyone has a rocket of a pc.. and from what I'm reading in the forums most do not..
while the sweet looking track is very good for making pics its not worth the loss in performance to drive... a train on.. if there was a really nice looking track that is somewhere in the middle that would be nice..

the numbers I speaking of are like 7 million vertices' and 3 million items.. I thought the speed trees would be the falling stone but going through the forest (wooded section) 4k tree's so thats not too many I guess I have seen way more up around 17k tree's and that really didn't make a huge impact..

anyway staying on topic a few pic's from todays testing...
As you will see my testing today was focused on the truck route making sure they could get everywhere..
