See the difference
is this like the old fairy tale, the emperors new clothes?:hehe: I cannot see one iota of difference in those two screenies. What is this antipasto setting supposed to do?

ps bearcat what layout is that? and where is my copy?

cheers

Peter thats Lines to the Lachlan TS12 version almost ready for play if you want a copy let me know.

Its almost the same as the 2009 one on the DLS but with a few changes to make it a little more runable and uses some TS12 Buildings.

Pete,

I'll admit to being as mystified as you are. I have done as suggested, and I really cant' see what the difference is.

Still, if it makes Jamie happy...

Matt.

The difference is in the grid lines and the road texture (white lines) in the distance.

Without Anisotropic Filtering, you get very blurry textures in the distance, or when at a steep angle to the surface (e.g. on a flat baseboard, placing the camera near the ground).

By enabling/increasing the anisotropic filtering, you 'sharpen' the textures, and reduce the blur, giving an improved image.

Note, you will still get blur at certain angles, however it will improve it.

Antialiasing on the other hand 'smooths'/'blurs' sharp polygon edges, so as to make the scene appear a little more natural.

How true. Roads in Trainz look absolutely disgusting without anisotropic filtering.

However, my computer is probably not powerful enough to handle the global anisotropy setting in the Options dialog being set to a high setting and still get good frame rates, and road splines are really pretty much the only things that I need anisotropy on, so what happened to the "Anisotropy" tag in .texture.txt files? In TRS2004 that tag, set to 16, worked beautifully, giving me roads with an appearance that was actually decent, while other things went without anisotropy, and I got fine frame rates on my rather low-end computer, but TS2010 ignores that tag, and I am forced to deal with the absurd blur on road splines unless I turn up the global anisotropy slider and deal with lower performance. Why? Why does TS2010 ignore that tag? The TrainzDev Wiki still mentions it, and kind of ironicly the "Hint=Dynamic" tag still works in TS2010, so why not allow the "Anisotropy" tag to work? And "Hint=Dynamic" was supposedly even more of a performance killer.

Regards,

Retro.

Just a suggestion for this thread.
If people posting photos could provide links/kuids to loco's and rolling stock that are in their photos, I think a lot of people would be very happy (most of all me).
There are so many excellent trains being presented. I was not aware that so many were out there. I am sure there are others like me.

Keep up the fantastic work.

 Hi Jamie and D9007_Pinza

The cars that i have been remakeing where not intended for Trainz but other games,
Unfortunately they are very hi poly, most of them range from 10 up to 120k depending on the detail.
The cars i have in trainz are around 10 to 20k with a lot of small texture's and no lod's.

RE : I want them :D Especially if you have a HQ ute. Love those old things.

Yes i have made a HQ ute and one with a canopy, at the moment i am working on a HQ Monaro and a WRX 5 door hatch for my brother.

Russell, just search CMP or the DLS for keywords such as "NSWGR", VR, "QR", Cityrail, etc.

Oops, it has been some time since I posted a screenie.

Not the 1970s, but the early 90s. With the mass withdrawal of older stock such as the FS/BS cars, the Melton Vale Historical Society managed to raise ample funds to purchase an FS and MHO which will form help to form a local museum and archive storage for the growing society. The carriages have now arrived at their final destination in the consist of the weekly mixed goods, which in short time will join the pages of history.

Great idea but not always possible = but good news it quite ok in this thread to post a wow where did you get that question.

Love the MHO's even purchased one for the sum of $2 with some mates, many moons ago that later went on to be the home of Lachlan Valley Model Railway club thats the yellow one as released as a model by Powerline. Powerline even paid for the repaint and had the yellow mixed to there specs so nobody could say that the model did not match the orginal but we never told anybody that the orginal was re painted to match the model.

The other part of the story is that we found our MHO sitting in the Junee yard, it was an ex breakdown train van. We approached the then SRA by mail offering them the sum of $2 and it was sold to us on as is where is basis. As a joke while inspecting the van we wrote in chalk on the van sold – urgent move to Cowra yard.

The model club got a letter accepting our offer on van L175 but the letter went on to say that the SRA had in fact lost L175 and we were offered another MHO instead.

But little did they know that within days of finding our van it was in Cowra yard much to our amazement waiting to take up duties in its new role. The Cowra station master at the time was a bit of a modeller and his role in this matter was never official known but he was surly involved, he was more than happy to take on the behalf of the SRA the payment of the $2 for our where is as is MHO.:hehe:

Gympie North Stn Screenie

Hello Peeps!

It's been a while, I've had a few things going on, but here's some of my recent work. Gympie North section is almost complete. Here's the Queenslander headed by 2155 and 2210 in Gympie North, while IM 104 and 107 wait on the main line for the platform to clear.

Excellent pics Raichase,BTW where did you get the freight Australia grain wagons from?

Cheers Harry

Harry, thanks for the kind words. The Freight Australia grain hoppers are "VHGF FA Wagon" kuid2:1854:1051:1 made by Comtrain. Unsure if they are on the DLS or on Victrainz. There are a number of liveries for them, they are basic models, but they are well modelled and are industry interactive. I wouldn't mind seeing a weathered version, and or one with the FA logos painted out, like used in NSW, but the detail is good.

Four F class locos lead a loaded superphosphate train into the yard whilst F176 sits in the dock road with a general goods service.
