Mulie & Railwayz, nice work.

@Railwayz, try the Remove Gradient tool. Very occasionally I have that same gap appear when joining tracks, and that seems to do the trick.

DH 52 shunts the yards...

Thanks for the suggestion Matt. I decided to make a new test route just using a flat, unimproved, 6 board test track to only make a balloon loop. Same problem. Strangely though I ended up with a gap at every spline point on the curve instead of just one. I took your suggestion and tried removing the gradient even though none had been applied and guess what....same problem.

Sigh, I gues I'll just have to resign myself to having lots of road crossings or go back to the good old days of "running around" in a dead end siding before loading the train. Good shunting opportunities with that though. I've set one up like that already and even the AI drivers can work it out.

and even the AI drivers can work it out.

*Sigh*. At least they can do that - mine can't amalgamate an Xplorer, despite being told to "couple". It will arrive at a red signal protecting the platform, and just sit there... I'm trying to set up a situation where the player will drive the Xplorer in, and then wait for a few minutes, then the AI driver will arrive with their own set and couple up.

If Trainz had working shunt-subsidiary signals, I'd let the player do it, but sadly even with the NSW 3-asp home (s) signal, the signal goes to red and the shunt signal does not light up amber (obviously because Trainz wouldn't know what to do with it).

I seem to remember reading somewhere that there were plans to make the shunting indications on Natvanders signals work in the future. A sub shunter (signal) would be very handy as would a main line shunting signal and a ground repeater.

I wish I could do it myself but Gmax has shown that I'm creatively challenged.

Oh! I thought they didn't work because Trainz didn't have the indication for it - ie a signal was either at "stop", "caution", "medium", or "clear". I didn't think it would be possible for it to display what is essentially a "stop" and a "proceed" indication at the same time if the track ahead was occupied. Certainly there would need to be some rule to prevent it happening whenever the signal was at "stop", otherwise some players would just drive through it and run into or foul a shunting movement...

Sorry to hear you can't solve your problem mate. Nice looking route regardless.:)

Yeah, me!:hehe:

WIP, started working on Yarranjerry yard today. Needs a bit of work, as if you couldn't tell:hehe:, but I think it looks good so far.

Matt, so far so good, although may I suggest that your dead-end sidings look too structured? Have you got a more modern photo of Goulburn for comparison? Goulburn Yard is quite a messy place in the present time, with plenty of roads booked out and points that look like they serve no purpose.

All photos are credited to the photographers.

Hope that helps you?

They will, Raichase, and i thank you (and the original photographers) for that!

I should have mentioned though, had a bit of a attempt at a Goulburn look-a-like, and gave it up as being a bit to much for me. This yard is completely freelanced, not based on any particular prototype. It is subject to quite a few revisions, as I progress with it, this is just a rough representation of what i would like.

Evening folks,

Been some great screen shots of late :)

@ Mattm - Nice looking yard, One thing that I despise creating is Yards LOL.

@ Muliebuck - Mate, stunning work as always.

I been slack and havent posted a screenshot lately, Due to mostly not having the next section of my route anywhere near where I am happy to post a shot. But hopefully by weeks end I shall have a few shots of the next section.

Cheers

Trent

Trent,

That is where sites like http://signaldiagramsandphotos.com/ come in handy!

A lot of the yards I have shown recently have been adapted from diagrams from that site.

I can't create a decent freelanced yard to save my life.

Raichase, thanks for the links for those photos, some nice shots there, good for detailing.

Thanks David :) Means a lot coming from you! :)

Yours and Nat's content has been a big inspiration for me for years :)

Still got a few things left to do on that I wagon variation, texture wise. Need to tweak the normals map (the 'dints' don't show as well as I wanted), and add specular and env maps (using the tbumpenv material, that really does do a nice job!). Then need to do the other 9 versions (each has it's own weathering, I think this project is going to send me insane :hehe: ).

One thing I have picked up with this project... Use unusual brushes... The buffers, and internal weathering, were painted with 'flower' brushes of all things!

Great shots everyone! :D I got a few coming but I have a problem to solve with 2012 first... DLS access.
I entered my username, password and userID and content manager comes up with incorrect user name and password... What a suprise...

G'day all. A big step in progress for the 21'8" timber signal box to go with my platform set. The first lever has been completed and textured:
