Late Memo From The QGR Commissioner

Hello All,

Dear D9007_Pinza, Thank you for you kind comments: expect more comming after Christmas due to Walkers Lmtd & The Railways Workshops; Ipswich closing down for the holidays. Also sir I will head down to the closed Pinkenbar branchline and take some photogragh's. Their were 4 types of woodern platforms used by QGR;

  • Packed Earth
  • Grass
  • Gravel
  • Dirt & Grass
Dear Scott; (Ghosty)
I am afriad I wll not be releasing it just at the present time due to some circumstances; I will be flowing Mark (Dreddman) lead for a while by just waiting for the right time. Again I will not touch it until after the new year, so a 3ft 6in version might be on the cards but alas please be pacient.
------------------------------------------------------------------
I have previously back in 2007 if you remember; my routes were made in 3ft 6in (especially my jewl Southport & QGR Depot MkII in early 08/09) and it was a a hassle for me when I used STD rolling stock that didn't fit the rails plus it was awkward on some routes like C17 in Southport?. It was hard to find stuff back then. Now days I really like using STD becuase it has a wide setting and their is plenty of choice.
----------------------------------------
Using 3ft 6in is a personal choice; I would switch in the near future when the issues improve regarding rolling stock.

Some excellent shots there Ronayne. I think it may be worth noting that none of these wagons are in fact abandoned. All are owned by the ARHS ACT division as service stock, although they are presently unused after the flood? damage caused to the MTR a few years back.

I agree. I have not yet had a chance to explore the line. I do know there is an old Lancashire boiler down at Maclaughlin dumped outside the metalworks there along with several other bits of machinery.

There is what appears to be an old steam loco firebox outside the loco shed at Michelago.

I don't think it's a loco firebox. Too square and lacks the distinctive "salt shaker" appearance created by the multiple rows of stays that maintain the shape of the inner firebox and prevent it being crushed by the pressure difference inside and outside of it. It certainly looks a very rudimentary design. Could possibly be a furnace or kiln of sorts?

Michael, those four variations would be quite simple to produce with a bit of texture swapping. Are there any structural variations you would like produced? Height differences and the likes.

P.S. Noticinng your thread on railway power pole insulators, there are many such poles along the Picton-Mittagong loop line which have had the wires removed, while the poles remain standing complete with insulators between Colo Vale and Hilltop and regarding the loco shed discussion, I have sitting on the desk in front of me the Greg Edwards datasheet for the NSWGR's standard H2 type engineshed, the same type provided at Cooma and I might have a crack at knocking one together in Gmax.

I am patient, if i was not there would not be eight NG C-17s in development. its nice to have the choice, if people like me did not ask or suggest or request things that fall outside the normal the choice between modelling SG or NG would not be there.

I can save you a lot of time and effort maiking the C-16 narrow guage. If your prepared to send me the Engine and tender i think they can be modified pretty quick. I will leave it up to you.

Ronayne, I'm glad it'll be of use to you. You will have to be fairly patient as I'm going into quite a bit of detail as the plans make it possible so it will require a bit of time to build. I am sure this shed will be able to be used by most of the Oz community as it is very generic in appearance. Any photos of the interior or exterior anyone could provide me with would be greatly appreciated. I am particulalrly after detail of the locking bars on the doors and the workbenches inside.
Regards, Evan.

SAR Runs

Hi Trainzerz

I have recently restarted my Holden Vale Route about 5 times now, and I think I'm finally happy with it. I will upload pictures later. Does anyone konw of some good SAR Steam, diesel and railcars for TRS2009?? I am hoping to get 2010 soon. Also VR Stuff like that.

Thanks, SARRailways :):D:):D

Well, finally back in Australia and about to dig my old Trainz PC out of storage... But... What's with all the Australian accents in our old country? And the bogans?? The chavs in the UK were tame compared to the bogan menace. And why is it so warm here? Where's my Scottish winter???

I am deeply upset. Although I must admit, I'd forgotten how comfy the V-sets are! Almost better than a first class ticket on a flight filled with lovely ladies.

Almost.

So, shortly I'll finally be back to nerdy Trainzy things! Wow! What a life I lead.

Great shots folks! Soon I'll be able to contribute again.

Hi guys,

There are some all round nice shots being displayed here; Patchy, 3830 and Ghostryder having by far the nicer works-in-progress.

Don't be disheartened, though, everyone else, as it's all looking great!:Y: Its just that Daniels route, being created for an outdated version as it is, and Patchy's work look absolutely mind-blowing! Which doesn't really affect me, as i have no brain:hehe:, but still.

The quality just gets better and better every day, in every way. (Corny, i know, but how else do you describe the work here?)

Ronayne, the route looks good so far, and Pinza, i'm looking forward to those platforms. Us New Southern Welshmen-and-women don't have nearly enough content for our routes!:hehe::hehe:

Cheers,

Matt.
