ummm, is it more than 3 boards this time?Step 1: Take existing SAR Melton Valley Modular Route.
Step 2: Change the appearance of the urban area...
Step 3: Swap out the railway infrastructure... and whilst at it, a rename by playing on the original name (there is only one Melton Valley dammit!!).
Step 4: Place some trains to see if it fits ok.
Step 5: Run said train for a bit... just to make sure.
Step 6: Make some final tweaks and some subtle changes.
Essentially it is the same route with same track diagram and same industries... although the general goods siding loop has changed orientation.
Step 7: Upload to DLS![]()
Tanvaras, downloading your Port Levendale and it's however many dependencies. Hope it is just as good as your screenies
Tanvaras, some nice work from you. I just wish you had made the route in '06. It looks like a good one, judging by the screenshots.
Matt.
Hey Trainzerz!!!
Has Forest_Runner released his SAR Melton Valley route for TRS2009?? Cause I got on the DLS to finish downloading some SAR stuff. Underneath his route was up, I thought it was for 2010 only?? Am trying to download it now. If it doesnt work I wont be surprised, but if it does, COOL!!!!! Great screenies um.. um.. um.. EVERYONE!!!!
Thanks, SARRailways![]()
It's just the pre-release module SAR Railways (3 boards), whilst I work away on expanding the route.
If you do get it working in the version you have, can you post a few shots of the Brill running on the route, please?? I'd love to see how it looks.
Thanks Matt. Sorry it wont run in Trainz 2006 as I am a bit of an addict for the 5m baseboard, which is what my route is made on. Downside of moving onto newer versions of Trainz I suppose. Appreciate the comments thoughI try and have my towns/yards fairly detailed and in-between runs fairly average detail since you are usually moving at a fair pace.
Happy to get any comments for my upload, as I like to improve my surveyor skills as I get from others work, ideas etc. Let me know if its crap/good etc I like the feedback good or bad
Edit: Just took a look at your NSW Leycester Matt, I really like the town setup. Bus stop and town centre/info centre etc is really good. more ideas for my route again
Trent

cjgeddes, don't be to disheartened by the quality shots that appear in this thread. We all have the same trouble when we're starting out. The secret is to start small; don't get in above your head. Take it from me, it doesn't work to lay down 10 boards, then try and fill them all in a way that makes sense.
Try this: start a new route, add 1-2 boards MAX to one end or the other; lay down your main line, then add a loop or two, nothing too complicated, remember to keep it simple. Once that's done, add a station, maybe a goods shed, a grain silo, or even a stockyard. Then, lay down main street, add a few houses parallel to the road, and a shop or two. Then add a basic texture.
That will give the beginnings of a small route, that should look alright to run trains over. It's also how i start my routes; one step at a time. If you want an example of how this works out, browse back to about page 693 OR 703 of this thread, and have a look at the shots i posted, showing little areas of progress i have made with my route.
This is also on the DLS, so if you want to have a look at what the finished product is, go download and have a look it. It is, i think, an example of what a little time, and a lot of perseverance, can achieve, if you stick at it, and don't get bogged down trying for too much detail.
Anyway, chin up mate, you'll get better as time goes on, and people will look to your routes for inspiration and ideas to implement in their own works.
