Australian screenshots

Hi Guys,

First, there have been some great screenshots of late, congratulations to all for some excellent work especially on some of the ground textures.

A special comment for Axe though, I love your work and your screenshots, very creative. I am looking forward to running your layout once/if it is ever released.

A question for everyone, a thing that has been annoying me for some time is with spline content. I think I worked out the answer with content such as Power Lines, but with Tracks I am not so sure or my eye sight is getting worse. What is the difference or what is meant when Track is Titled "16m Track" and "2m Track"? Its just one of those things that I wonder about from time to time, so I thought I would finally ask the question.

Many thanks and keep up the good work on your layouts.

You mean like the 2m or 16m (and other sizes)?

It's to help out with the frame rates AFAIK by reducing the amount of polygons used. The 16m track would only really work on on straights, but 2-4m works good on curves.

Try each of the track types side by side on a curve and you should notice the difference.

Hi Craig,

As Deadly said regarding frame rates is correct, but it indicates the repeat pattern of the spline.

rail 2m-repeats every 2m
rail 4m-repeats every 4m.....etc.
rail 16m-repeats every 16m.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Bill.

Hi Deadly and Bill,

Just tried it and now see what the difference is and it does really make a difference on sharp corners :hehe:

Thanks for solving my long annoying "What does it mean question?"

Todays lesson. Map Beta testing.
The people i have selected to test the map have ben asked to test it and test it some more. They are looking for errors and problems i may may have overlooked or have not seen. I dont know about you but when i download maps i would like them to work right and that they work as there expected to thats what these testors are doing and they have reported back useful corrections. And these corrections have been made, additional changes have been made and they will be asked to test it again and give me feed back on it.
Oh you would like them to be on the DLS hmmmmm :hehe: I think i may have to speak with Captain Bligh as she may have sold them already. :D
so for this week there endeth the lesson for today.

Cheers

Happy Birthday, Seeseeme!

Now that that's out of the way, i've recently been working on a fictional rendition of Brisbane city. It's coming along slowly at best. I've finished most of the city center:

Here's Central Station, based very loosley off Roma Street.

As the name suggests, central station is the railway hub of the entire track. It's rather small so i'll be exapanding it eventually.

A random shot from one of the yards near Central Station:

3 EMUs await servicing, while another EMU motorcar sits quietly by itself in a state of disrepair.

Props to Imageshack for hosting these.

I know this isn't the "Birthday Message" place necessarily, however as so many of your mates live here Craig....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARY!
And may your very own New year be a great one!.

Hi guys,

Many thanks for the Birthday wishes, I had a quite day as I put off any Celebrations until the Birthday present I am buying myself arrives in about 4 weeks. Then I will be

Celebrating :hehe:

I am ordering a new computer in 2 weeks time when some money becomes available and then it should be with me 2 weeks later. That's my Birthday present to me and then I will be double Celebrating ... a Birthday and a new Computer Celebration.

Many thanks again to all,

Craig
