I am in no way being rude to anyone, nor was it my intention by saying this, but I think that people should refrain from asking for the release date of an item, and just wait it out until it actually is released. I'm guessing that it can slowly get slightly annoying for a modeler when they are constantly hounded about when a project will be released, or to hurry up and release it.

If things are released, then they are released, otherwise just live in hope that they will be released, whether it be tomorrow or next year.

Yeah if I wore a skirt, that would be one thing that gets up it!!
As the saying goes (Must be by a Scotsman?
Every time something nice is shown to us, the little ones rush in asking for a time span. Nobody ever knows!! Really The greatest artist here has not got a clue when he will finish, because unexpected things happen.
So please stop asking, it is annoying to get post after post of requests for dates. You stop what you are doing and open the site and its another one... oh where was I? yes searching for DERM pictures....
Rod

Ghosty but its irrelevant infomation! Everything you blokes post is intended for release. no?
But things happen and if the object is that important and a long time goes by, you will remember and go back to the thread and ask what happened. However 9 times outof ten creators kill the project themselves.

the only question i ask about content now is if its going to be released, as i have seen many fine models being built, heck i have shown a few older maps i have not uploaded and may not upload. i dont care how long it takes to build just would be nice to know if its getting released and with that i am happy and will await its arrival.

cheers

I decided to revisit one of my earlier pieces at the request of someone who will remain nameless. Anyway I want to make it with an animated load but this is beyond me, I just cant grasp how you do it given the shape of the hopper.

Are there any volunteers? I am happy to send the mesh to you

this is my progress so far

Pete make the load the size of the bottom as it rises at certain stages hidded planes could slide out filling the area thus keeping the load at all sides just a thought

these guys that wander of in caravans to the back of beyond, you gotta watch them:D:D:D:D

Rod, I think I will just make a coal load for it and make it industry interactive, so they can be run empty or full, I will do the LCH and CCH, might have a go at the little guards van that seemed to go with these as well.

cheers

Why don't they look like this in Trainz ? :(

They do, it just depends on your graphics card settings. I remember someone in the VICTRAINZ forums had some luck with settings, so I had a play around and achieved great success... frame rate takes a kick in the teeth sometimes, but with the right hardware you can make a decent compromise.

I'll see take some screens of my Nvidia settings and hopefully it will be a good starting point, depending on your card model. :)

These settings aren't for max quality, but a compromise for performance. Note that the card is an MSI 9600GT 512mb.
The only thing I have had no luck with avoiding is the mipmap blur after 10m, it seems to be built into TRS. :(

Peter,
Use 4 planes with each one linked to a dummy and each dummy linked to a main dummy.
Start the animation with the planes all bunched together in the bottom of the hopper and slide them out and up to the top of the hopper over about 100 frames so that it doesn't load too quick.

Jamez, my settings are similar to those but obviously, trainz has to whole lot of frames and objects to deal with and yafray is only concerned with one frame. Top of the range hardware is going to give a better result as well.

BTW did you get that track?

Spooney has already done the little CHG van. However that does not mean that much. However it WAS a really nice model.
Cheers
Rod :p

David (or anyone else who knows how), how do you do the reflective render shot for your Loco's/wagons  ? Can it be done in Gmax or is 3Ds max required? BTW nice screens everyone :D !

Matt

Not yet, I'll go back and grab it. I've been looking everywhere for a set of thin rails that match the european retaining wall 'ceiling/floor' textures, it looks like these will be perfect. Thanks. :)
