W44 -

A Garratt and usually a D53 and occasionally a D50 worked the train from Brokenhill to Molong, both the Garratt and Standard goods would face forward for this part of the journey.

On arrival at Molong the D53 would be removed and a Garratt which was running bunker first would be attached in front of the other Garratt, this Garratt would always be a Heavy type with DC (Dual Control). The double-headed Garratt's would work along the steep grades from Molong to Orange.

On arrival at Orange, the forward facing Garratt would be removed for servicing whilst the Bunker First Garratt would continue the trip to Lithgow where electric traction would take over to Gosford where-by another Garratt + suitable loco would take over the train to Sulphide Jct.

During the later years of operation this trip was also run by a Garratt + D53 from Brokenhill to Parkes, a 49 from Parkes to Sulphide Jct. with appropriate assisting loco's being added where needed.:p

Just a little lesson for everyone...

I'd be willing to beta the Garratt in 06 if you want Pete if you want, I assume you still have my e-mail address?

I still remember the day I made a post asking if someone would be willing to make an AD60 Garratt if I supplied the plans, thank you very much for taking up the challenge, improving on your first efforts and continueing with your Gmax-ing to produce the great works which have followed:D

Did I see 42220 in a natvander screen shot
have to spend less time in the workshop and more PC time

It did not have the yellow cow catcher, but yes I thought the same thing :p
I guess the boys have a lot of toys they are yet to share with us :D
But the anticipation is killing me!! Nat where are your candy cars? ;)
Cheers
Rod

Apologies I was thinking of 42220 as I ran it in Victoria. By then it had the "81 Class Test Kit" installed. I believe they removed the buffer beam and painted the cow catcher yellow :)

Nice pics patchy!
captured the look nicely!
Going to wait for the loadable bins before I finish mine :hehe:
Can you get pictures or plans dimensions of the bin unloading facility? From memory one or two bins are rotated up side down then returned backwards to the upright position. I have been looking at Bendorseys rotary coal unloaders, and feel we could probably ask Ben to do the modification. He is a very helpful person. He has just completed a key bridge that links Melbourne Interstate traffic to the yards for me (..us ;)
It would be great to get this going in 2004/6.
If we could get the cane carting machines to arrive and depart at the rail siding and tip into the bins to simulate loading too. With pictures and measurements, I am pretty sure I could ask someone to do that too ;)
Cheers
Rod (a Victorian and not expecting to visit the FNQ for a couple years)

they tip two bins at a time up this way,TORANA has been asking for an active mill and bins.
but i don't know how he's going.it would be good to have a havester and
haul out tractors to boot.

cheers,
patchy

p.s. when they start cutting cane down from my place i'll get some photos

OMG! The gang from CWS, I think I soiled myself...(thats means thank you very much). I haven't checked out these forums in the last couple of days, but yet so much happened. Love your work. An awesome screen shots everybody.

Now, I shall not study for my exam on tuesday and just play trainz :p

Hmmm...those silo's and wagons look familiar, may I have seen them at a past Newcastle Trainzer meet???
By the looks of the image I'd say I have since the first wagon afterall appears to be loading with the top doors being open:p

I'd like to make a very formal, and very serious(:hehe:), complaint about the un-realistic-ness of the above fan, I am led to believe no such fan within a NSW 620/720 set was a CWS fan and therefore an apology should be issued to this fan for being forced into being a CWS fan when this fan, nor any others like it were never truly CWS fan's... (Now that was a mouthful)

Now I refuse to download any more content from CWS as it is no way near the prototype and I believe it could be done better, I demand a re-fund:hehe::p
Just kidding, I can't believe how much detail you guys actually put into these models. Whats next? Engines that actually start up and shutdown :hehe:

Tom :)

We're thinking about adding smell...

As a retired driver, I can tell you that all you need to do to add smell is add certain (guard) second persons to your crews list. Personal hygiene was sometimes something that some guards used only as a greeting to the working girls near the Railway Hotel in some of our rest towns!! "Hi Jean !!"
With apologies to all the top guards that came across when the vans were removed :Y:
Announcement!!
2009 Trainz featuring the genuine olfactory delights sampled from working engines all over the State!!

Driver meets his young fireman one winters afternoon, prior to running the Mail train to barracks....
"Hello Charles, now you did not have baked beans again today, did you?"

Every Loco here is different

you mean the rumours are true? it really is on the nose
I guess the job is anyway, Peter
My mates are all out of work here in Victoria or working for Companies that own only junk and go by strange names like El Zorro !!
I have absolutely not a clue what cloaks and dagger eh swords.. have to do with moving freight in Victoria, perhaps it is something to do with old preserved flat wagons that were riveted together between the wars being returned to service on the Warnambool line, whilst PAC-NAT cut up modern stuff for scrap??
Anyway we wait the next grain harvest down here... and wonder
Cheers

Screen_033.jpg

We found this picture recently shot in NSW. A spectacular gathering of Victorian Locomotives arranged for easy inspection by would be users as the preserved locomotives get set to re-enter service in Victoria to fill the vacuum left when "Bell Transport" tried to move everything out of the state. It is rumoured that "Bell" are moving surplus road transport into position, and with the loss of a viable railway, Higher road transport charges already compromised by high fuel prices will cause food and other services to sky rocket!!
Thanks to Ad602000 and Tom for putting together this fine Victorian collection for us all to enjoy :D

edit2 I don't know how we missed it Peter, But the V/Line high nose T has another error, maybe Tom can fix the V/L logo on the short end nose?

Wow, Pete certainly has made a decent collection of VR rollingstock, look forward to the rest of the VR fleet being made, the sooner he finishes that stuff, the sooner he'll move back up north:p

Well, two things. There are a number there that aren't Petes :P

The flat top T (jerkers, based off Pete's mesh), the 'D' guards van (mine, no was more a 'I need it in TRS' type of model than anything near beta), the VR livery high cab & low nose T class locos, and the VR livery Y class locos (all reskins of Pete C's T class' by 'Lesley' into VR livery) :)

Hold on Zec!
These are all VicTrainz projects and I did say...."Thanks to Ad602000 and Tom for putting together " and unless I am really up the tree proper :( That covered 90% of the picture.
The D Guards van and the flat top T are not released as they are in Alpha, which is why I did not bother removing them from the scene when I staged the T and Y photo :p Pete and Tom have released the rest of the engines and they are available to VicTrainz (Thus Trainz) members to download.
Think you are being a little harsh on me, mate?
Cheers
